It should not damage your wii as long as you are not reckless with Wad Manager and do something like uninstall a system file. If you followed the mod any wii guide you should be alright. Also, if you install DIOS MIOS v2.0 you won't be able to play retail Gamecube Discs anymore. You'll have to install a new wad called MIOS (which is on the first page of this thread/forum), which re-enables it.

However, I think the newest DIOS MIOS which is version 2.2 stops that problem and lets you play both backups and retail discs. Glad I could help

Next put the SD card in your Wii and launch the HomeBrew Channel. Select Multi-Mod Manager and choose load. Scroll towards the bottom to the option that tells you your current IOS (if it doesn't say 236 just press A, you'll see a list of all your IOSs. Scroll to 236 and press A, IOS236 is now the loaded IOS for installing). You be sent back to the main menu of MMM, select "Wad Manager" and you'll see all the wads in you SDs WAD folder, look for your DIOS MIOS.wad and press A (I believe you'll have to press A again to confirm your action). Once done it will tell you success (or failure, if it fails you may have a problem with IOS236). If you get a success message you're done, you can now load USB Loader GX, pop in a GameCube disc and install it (that's the easiest way). Optionally you can rip the games on you Wii + HDD using CleanRip than run the game ISO through DiscEx. I'd really recommend reading the guide a couple times to familiarize yourself with the process but truthfully if your really new and it all sounds very complex you're better off just installing the games with USB Loader.

      Hopefully this helps

SNES, the new Wad Managers don't need the file to be in the wad folder anymore. Also, I've never used Multi Mod.

Yeah, I believe the "put wad file in the wad folder" rule is more for organization as I've been able to install wads off the root with MMM. I just like MMM, it's what I'm used to.

i have a black wii that has never lost retail play even when i installed the first dios mios...i think it's just a hit and miss on what systems loose it and what ones don't...i'm currently running 2.0 (when i installed 2.2 i lost some playback compatability...for example spirits and spells quit working)

I finally got my gamecube working. Not sure if it was the HDD, but I downloaded MMM 13.4 and installed the full version of DM 2.2 uninstalled the Lite version of 2.2, and I am now able to play my gamecube off the HDD. Thanks for the help

Ok, I downloaded CFG70MODR45, the latest version so far, I have a question, I have a folder on my SD called usb-loader, with a bunch of files, should I move that to the HDD too? and how do I tell CFGloader where to look for them?!

Why IOS236? I thought it had to be IOS249? my syschk has the following line:

IOS249[56] (rev 21008, Info: d2x-v8final): Trucha Bug, Acceso NAND, USB 2.0

Ok, tried everything I can think of! MY HDD is a Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 640GB, small black one, black WII moded with MODMii, PS am I missing some kind of IOS?!!?! why do I have to install to IOS236? I tried both 236 & 249, and same old black screen!?!?!? latest USBCFGMOD! HELP!, going nuts here! here's my syschk:

      Spoiler

IOS236 is always recommended to install wads. Did you install DIOS MIOS 2.2 wad with WAD Manager 1.7? Is your hard drive one partition, FAT32 with 32KB cluster size? I always keep usb-loader file on the HDD and I keep the USBLoader apps on the SD card. I am using CFG70MODR37 WITH DIOS MIOS 2.2 wad and it works perfect.
I have two wii and one wii I do not use a SD card any more only USB and both wii works perfect with GC games etc
You could still use IOS249, I did not see a base for your IOS236, my base for IOS236 is 36.
you may have to update from d2x-v6 to d2x-v8 for IOS247 AND IOS248 because CFG70R45 uses IOS247 and IOS248 or just try another USB loader like wiiflow r607

IOS236 is best for wad installs but other can be used sometimes, 236 is highly recommended as it very very rarely has a issue installing things.

Your system check looks ok (though I can't read Spanish...I'm judging off the IOS versions) but a couple of your d2xs are outdated. You should update all your d2xs to v8 Final.

The only reason(s) I can think for this to be giving you trouble is your HDD isn't formatted right (from what you describe it sounds like you have the same one as I do so it should be compatible), it's not plugged into the right port, or you haven't not configured the loader properly. If you follow candyloves advice she should be able to help as she's more familiar with CFG Loader than I am but I did want to let you know what else could possibly be interfering. It's not a guarantee that it's any of the things I listed but it wouldn't hurt to look into then anyway.

Well it seems like no matter what I do, whenever I hit start to load a GC backup from my USB, my screen always switches off its component setting and I can never get my picture back! This is driving me nuts... I am using USB Loader GX r1180 and DIOS MIOS 2.2 wad is installed. I cant seem to find anything related to this specific problem anywhere. Any ideas what am I missing?

r1180 doesn't work with DM 2.2, you need r1198 or higher.

I downgraded from the current version because it was giving me the same issues, I read someone had success booting their backups on that version, but obviously not What is the best version to be using at this point? 3.0? That was what I was on...

If you're insistent on using 3.0 r1180 (rather than 3.0 r1200) you have to use DM 2.0. 2.1 may work with r1180 as well but I'm not 100% sure.

Im not insistent at all I just have been trying so many different things and that's the point I was at. I will try r1200 next if I can find it seems like the revisions page is under construction...

Lol, no problem. It's just some people prefer to not use betas and to be honest right now anything for USB Loader GX above r1180 is a beta release. But I use USB Loader GX 3.0 r1200 with DIOS MIOS 2.2 and have experienced no issues. One other recommendation I can give you is if your launching USB GX via the forwarder channel your channel may be out dated. To check load it via HBC, if it works properly via HBC then you need to update the forwarder channel.

I deleted the forwarder channel I had when I started messing with DIOS MIOS, so I always boot from HBC for that now. But I found a copy of r1200, gonna install and see what happens...

if your screen is going blank (no signal) after you run it but your wii isn't freezing it's your global video setting in usb loader gx...try changing it to force ntsc 480i (i think it's 480 i'm not able to check the exact number...just play with that till you find one that works)...also try dios mios loader (for some reason it seems to do better on force video than usbloadergx or cfg loader can...also has more options)

Wouldn't it be "Force to 480p" if he's using component cables? But I do agree, sounds like its something in the USB Loader GX settings. He should go back to page 1 and follow all the info in the first post and see if any of it helps.

check your GC backup to see if it is compatible and try different GC backups

Well first of all, thanks for all the suggestions. For the record, I am trying to run a backup of SMB Sunshine, which appears to have no issues for compatibility, also my Wii is hooked up via component on an SD TV. I was having the same issues with the DM loader as well, as a matter of fact I have this issue with wiiflow, also. I can see the GC DIOS MIOS screen VERY briefly when the game loads and I switch tv outputs between video1 and component on my TV, but thats it. This issue is happening across all methods of loading. BTW I CAN still load and run a GC game via the Game channel on the wii with no issues.
