uncompressed is better, do not leave a disk in the drive, if you are using DIOS MIOS 2.2.wad.
If you compress it with GCReEX, DiscEX says it is under-dumped so I do not compress any of my GC games and I still use DiscEX

Try POSTLOADER all the games/roms from N64/SNES etc are displayed together in the emulator pages.

      It wants to be:

      1. Download DiscEx and DML Wad Creator. Put these in the same folder.
      2. Start DML Wad Creator (the .bat file), following the on screen instructions to compress your Gamecube ISO and create the necessary files. (simply drag the iso to the box when it asks you to). Some games do not work uncompressed so you may want to check the compatibility list at the bottom of this post. Compressing is only good for saving space on your HDD. It does nothing else.
      3. A folder will be created such as "GLME01", the one for Luigi's Mansion
      4. Place the newly created folder into the "games" folder on the USB.
      5. Place your genuine gamecube or Wii game into the Wii.
      6. Plug the USB into port 0 (the one closer to the SD card slot) and run one of the USB loaders

PLS, do not speak English very!

I've been using a 1TB Seagate for at least 3yrs now and had no issues (well, VBA GX tried to save to it while the drive was sleeping and corrupted the whole damn thing lol) but I was able to recover the data and have no more issues, I just make all my apps and such save to SD now. Anyway, 16kb clusters is also acceptable for DM, it's just anything above 32 that won't work. Again, I wish you good luck in solving the issue but I think I've reached the peak of what I can offer for advice and assistance lol.

I believe it is and yeah, my Seagate 1TB has been amazing so far, no issues, doesn't get hot and no noises with very fast transfer rates running 6GBPS SATA3.

Yeah, that's the second time I've heard someone say that about certain apps corrupting HDD's. I've always used my SD Card for Apps and my HDD for media/games.
I know, anything above 32KB clusters is non-compatible.

Thanks for the help, bro. I figured what the problem was from the start but thought it might not hurt to see if anyone else has had this problem.

ALSO, anyone with app size errors, try turning No-Disc+ on in USB Loader GX AND put a Wii game in the disc drive. Solved my app size problem with DM.

Glad to hear you worked it out. And yeah, there was a time when I was just gonna do everything off the HDD but I quickly learned lol. It's weird cause I set the drive to not use sleep or standby mode but it still did...I suppose the setting applies only to my computer and not actually the HDD itself as I had thought. But after recovering the data it works perfect with no issues, I have a new USB powered HDD just for my Wii but the 1T makes a nice backup incase I need it.

Downloads - postloader - homebrew browser, channel launcher, neek2o disc loader, usb loader(s) forwarder - Google Project Hosting
Cheers for the suggestion, I've been trying to look into it but haven't found much information on it - what makes it better than USB Loader GX? Is it as stable/reliable?

You know it's kinda funny, I remember when USB Loading Wii games was new and people started asking "When will we be able to load GameCube games from USB?" and everyone working on the USB Loaders at that time would answer by pretty much saying never, it's impossible and will never happen cause the Wii can't access the USB ports in GC mode. But look at things now, now we have DIOS MIOS and Devolution. The Wii can now USB load ANYTHING it's compatible with using.

WiiU might take a little more time to crack than Wii did but when they do it'll be awesome. I would be so happy cause I bet it could run PS1, N64 and maybe even PS2 via emulation. Right now I'm just happy about DM since my Wii doesn't read GC games anymore.

I never said it was better than USB Loader GX , it just have a nice displayed of the emulator roms, they are all displayed together in the emulator pages and you could keep it in the emulator page so every time you go on postloader you see all your roms and you do not have to change emulators. Just use the postloader app with the plugins and when you click on top of the page on emulator you will see all N64/SNES/SEGA/NES/GEN/GB etc roms, it just have a nice displayed of the roms, it also works with DIOS MIOS 2.2, USB Loader GX and GC games.

Just wanted to say that I still get stuck on DIOS MIOS screen even if I start CFG or USB Loader GX through homebrew channel, not as often but every once in a while, what could be causing this?

      Cheers!

hmmm, returned settings to default in Usb loader gx and managed to load paper mario, hoping all is good now,

1 question to you need a memory card to save games with GC games?
    1. SNES_Master's Avatar

Some games can save to the SD card using No More Memory (NMM), but you should probably get a memory card anyway just in case some of your games can't use NMM.

So Snes i figured out why I couldnt get this working....It was the external Hdd.

I tried two others and they worked in one attempt...

Is there a reason one might work rather than another....

The one that didnt work was
      320GB Wd My passport
      P/N WDBACY3200ABK-01
      S/N WXQ1EB1JHYFR

      Ones that worked
      2TB Wd My passport
      P/N WDBY8L0020BBK-01
      S/N WX31EA1ER545

      1TB WD WD10EADS

I need help with the USB part.
Im a little bit worried. When im about to set my USB (Sandisk Cruzer 8GB) as "Active" with the EASEUS Partion Master program, the popup mentioning that it could set my PC unbootable sets me off. I dont want to do anything until i get some tips and clarification.

Also, this guide mentions that the USB also has to be "first (USB1)". How do i do this? How do i check if i already have this on? Im sorry for being such a noob, but i dont want to mess things up

If your drive is listed as "primary" & "active" the drive should be all set. Just make sure you format it to FAT32 32kb clusters. If your computer is giving a message that it may render your computer unbootable make ABSOLUTELY sure you've selected the correct drive before applying the action.
