my ntfs is my secondary. i got a 1tb drive for my wii. first partition, primary and active is fat32 with 60gb, rest is ntfs with the wii games.
i kinda had to update my wii too. latest hackmii with hbc, and d2x v8 (whatever is called) in both 248 and 250 (followed this guide for the cios Removed Out Side Link)
i used dopmi to download the wads.
compresed the gc iso with some "ex" app and created the games folder in the fat32 partition (make sure is 32k cluster btw)

As I mentioned in my previous post I can not successfully use DM without it disabling my disc drive for retail discs, it also screws up playback from SD card in my USB loader GX.

I too have a partitioned my hard drive like yours, I chose to put my Wii games on NTFS and I have a secondary partition in FAT32 for Roms etc.

Ive read the FAT32 partition would need to be your primary partition for the GameCube games to load through USB so how have you done this??

      Thanks
well.. basically move it around with either easus or w/e (i used acronis partition director, got licenses from my company)
i always had a fat32 partition as primary for cfg usb loader files/covers and stuff. and my ntfs with the wii games as secondary. now, both can be primary (you can have up to 4 primary partitions in a hard drive)

Is your hard drive fat or ntfs? Dios mios requires fat.

cannot get it to work. I get nothing but a blank black screen . also retail disk don't work anymore after installing dios mios 2.0 ...I installed an older version over it to get retail disk & SD backups working again...... I think I'll just stick to running my gamecube games off sd until they fix all these bugs

I just convert all my retail discs to .isos. It really just makes my disc drive never used nowadays. USB runs faster, I believe. Plus you can add ocarina, if you're into that stuff.

Yes I formatted it in fat32 and the games work great once I move them from the sd card. Do you use cfg and does yours only install to the sd? I've tried everything but whenever I click install it will only bring up the sd.

its not really a bug if the only reason its not working for you is because YOU CANT get it to work.
mine worked in the first try. i followed all the steps, updated my cios with d2 xv8, installed dios mios, updated cfg usb loader, repartitioned my hdd live. made first partition bigger. and it ran right away

I convert my images on the computer using discex. The only other thing I can suggest at the moment is to check the usbloader configuration utility settings and see if theres something you can change there. I'll check all my settings tomorrow and see if I can rip a disc directly....

They have done that, the problem is that the loader keeps ripping them to the sd card and not the usb drive...

I tried ripping my Zelda special edition this morning and yes, it wants to put it on the SD card. My partition is set to auto right now. I'll try switching it to usb and see how that goes.

It isn't a bug as such but I agree with cwjakesteel because DM does stop your disc drive from playing retail games.

I understand this shouldn't be a problem if you back up all your games to USB anyway but I have games that aren't compatible such as Rogue Ops and Everything or Nothing.

Look forward to when GameCube USB support is available along with existing SD support AND use of the Wii Disc drive for retail copies!

That message was for varaques sorry!

So this emulate memory card thing, how's that work? Save to SD? Systems internal Memory? External HDD? Sorry, I'm just confused about this thing is all lol. I was told that I don't need this cause USB Loader GX now does everything this does for GCN, can anyone simplify this for me?

Edit July 17th: All sorted out now, saves to USB, perhaps it can be changed if desired but I don't now how lol.

      Black screens only..

I've done the same thing - ran cleanripper to get images, used wiiflow to get images, etc. All of my CIOS are installed from d2x v8 and I also have IOS58 installed. I used 249 as the base to install DIOS MIOS and only black screen so tried 36 and like 3 others, using 249 as base now (is this correct?)

I have similar issues to what I see many people are having - black screen only (no audio/splash). I get this black screen weather I try to load via SD or USB, verify syscheck shows BC v6 and MIOS v10 installed, used config loader usb (latest version), dios mios booter and wiiflow - all of them give black screen on any of my IOS' (tried 5 and all have black screens and are cleanrips.)

Does anyone have ideas to try? Are there hidden IOS that are needed I am not aware of, which ones are dependent??

      Thanks for the time!

      Respectfully,
      TVO

BTW : I also have a chipped Wii

I'm reading that I'll lose retail game disk compatibility... Is that with just the black wii? I know I have 1st gen white wii... Also could you not boot retail games via NEOGAMMA?

Kind of at a loss as to why so many are having trouble. This is fairly new and there are some HDD compatibility issues. Here's my setup: A backwards compatible wii with system menu x, D2X cios ver. 7 I believe. Cfg. usbloader 70 r35. A 1 TB Western digital essentials HDD formatted to fat32. I started with dios mios lite guide. I followed it to the letter. If it had a link to neogamma and I had a different version, I downloaded the one in the link. I downloaded dios mios booter r24. I ripped my games with cleanrip and converted them with DiscEx. Put a folder called "Games" in the root of either SD or USB. When Dios Mios 2.0 came out, I got that and installed it. Now Cfg loader can load the images. I went under the system and changed the dml switch to "DM." I moved my "Games" folder to the root of the usb. Cfg picked them right up. I keep an original Wii game in the disc drive. Super Paper Mario. Yes, you need an original GC or Wii game in the drive. Some will work discless, some won't. I have a gamecube controller and a memory card in the wii. With all this Dios Mios has run almost everything I've thrown at it.

So i cannot seem to get any GC backups running, nothing works- plain black screen dm2 and hangin on loading bootloader on dml. I had assumed my SD card was incompatible and was very happy the ability to load from usb was an option.

I have tried everything i can think of, followed all steps as they are laid out, spent days searching the internet.... I have all these scatched beyond playablity GC games, a 7 year old boy who wont stop bugging me about it and at this point im seeing "hot wheels world race" laughing at me in my sleep/

      tried usb load gx
tried conf usb loader (35?) set to just dm from dml
DIOS MIOS v2.0.wad installed on 249....

tried metal gear twin snakes, black screen
hot wheels world race, black screen
      Animal crossing, black screen
      Harvest moon, black screen...

All applications can see the properly converted ISOs in loader frontends, but no love at launch...

      WD 1TB HD with 400gig fat16 partition....
      Red Wii
      all the GC goodies connected.

Been smashing my brain against this little red evil for days now.

      Wii backups play flawlessly btw

      PLEASE HELP

      @thegeewz

You mean you have formatted the hdd with fat16? or you mean fat32?
from what i know you need fat32 with cluster setting less than 32.
Also, it is very likely that dm2 doesn't like your usb drive. It happened to mine.
I would suggest you try with other usb flash drives first just to isolate the problem.
