USB Loader GX r1197 does seem to be working with DM v2.2! Just click the link at the bottom of the beta test thread SNES_Master linked to, grab the 7z, and pull out the boot for whichever ios you prefer. Remember to go into the Loader settings in GX and set the DML version to 2.2+

I replaced GX's boot.dol with the r1197 for 249, and reinstalled DM v2.2 under 236 (although you can probably do 249/250 just fine). I put Luigi's Mansion in the drive (with DML No Disc set to 'off' from last time I got DM v2.1 working), and got MGS Twin Snakes loaded from my USB flash stick. Rebooted, and tried it with no disc in the drive and No Disc set to 'on'. GX threw a warning stating that No Disc was no longer used and now a disc was required... or I think that's what it stated, although it'd be quite odd, since after I hit OK it loaded Twin Snakes just fine. Did another reboot, tried again with no disc in the drive and No Disc set to 'off': no warning appeared and it again loaded Twin Snakes.

I actually happen to have Thousand Year Door, so I ripped it to test this out. It behaved the same under DM v2.2 as my disc-based backups did with Neogamma/GC Backup Loader: my TV switches to 480i after the splash screen (before in the case of GC Backup Loader), the game asks if I want to switch to progressive, and when I say yes, my TV switches (back) to 480p and the game plays. I don't know if it's the result of special care taken by the loaders or the Wii itself, but it seems to work out either way. I'll also note I don't even need to hold B - it always asks on its own (I use component cables and have my Wii set to 480p).

So 2.2 still seems to give me issues, even with the latest beta of USB Loader GX. I'm still seeing apploader errors and many times, I see it try to boot whatever disc I have in my drive rather than the .iso I select. This is with DM Booter and the other loaders..

Another issue I have noticed with my Wii is after time (mainly when DM hard locks up, or the splash is stuck) it does something to kill my MIOS. I can't play anymore actual discs (from channel in Wii) unless I reinstall DM and MIOS v10. I also noticed earlier this a.m that reinstalling DM 2.1 or 2.2. my Wii still wouldn't load the actual disc (either turn off, lock at black screen, or lock at DM splash) but loading the latest rev of 2.0 fixes the issue. DM seems to be way buggier with these last few builds and for whatever reason killing my way to play retail discs ( kind of what people saw a little while ago.) did that bug get re-introduced??

Last but not least, when I run DM Booter, it lets me set Widescreen hack to on for 2.1 version of DM or above, USB Loader GX requires you to have 2.2 or above to try and load these - which one is handling this correctly? I thought 2.1 does implemented the WS hack, so I'm taking it that USB Loader GX isn't or that a bug was found that 2.1 didn't handle it correctly so it requires 2.2.

Again either way with the bugs I'm seeing in 2.1 and 2.2 (locking up Wii, introducing some bug that prevents actual discs from loading and when that is introduced - all DM games seem to not work after that either unless the MIOS is re-installed). These are all show stoppers that really bother me as I am really wanting to take to DM as being stable but these bugs are starting to prevent me from keeping it installed. Anyone else seeing any of these bugs??

BTW, I do have WiiKey with all options disabled from config disk and more than one Wii (WiiKey also) for testing..

You are right the actual GC discs does not load, but i perfer to play GC backups with wiiflow or cfg loader they have no issue with 2.1. I use USB Loader GX with wii backups. I like all three loaders so I use all three on both wii.

I thought "No retails discs" issue got fixed? I know my Wii won't play GC games with or without DM (and yes, my Wii is the old style with the GC ports)

by the way... updated version of DM v2.2 went up about 3 hours ago.... No idea what issues are still on it...

      Changelog:

      2.2 (2012-07-20)

      • Added a new DVDLowRead pattern (fixes Luigi's Mansion USA and maybe other games)
      • Made the DVDGetDriveStatus patch optional via a config since it broke some games (DML_CFG_NODISC) (fixes Prince of Persia:Sands of Time, Goblin Commander, King Kong, ... )

      (2012-07-18)
      • Added code to prevent drives going into sleep mode
      • Fixed a bug which ignored the DML_CFG_PADHOOK setting and always patched PADHOOK (fixes PSO1&2)

This is with 2.1.wad, it might work with 2.0wad update5 or 2.2wad. I have 2.1 install and all my GC backup and wii backup works with wiiflow and Cfg loader, maybe newer wads and loader updates will fix "No GC retails discs" issue. But I am happy with 2.1wad. I will try the new 2.2wad and let you know if it is fix.

I hope so, I'm supposed to be getting my Wii back next week and I'm hoping to find it reading GC games again (I currently have 2.1 installed)

The new 2.2wad did not work for me, only 2.0wad and 2.1wad works for me. Maybe the lite version got fix, but I like to play from USB not SD, we will have to wait for more updates.

As long as I can play off USB and Disc Channel I don't care about SD

I have everything working with DM 2.1. Updated to DM 2.2 and now it only plays the Gamecube game in the drive no matter which ISO I choose.

Also, anyone seeing problems in games with USB Loader GX? I have the latest beta build and 'Enter the Matrix' causes a stack exception but Wiiflow and DM Boot Loader play it fine.

USB Loader GX R1198 is out too.... http://code.google.com/p/usbloader-g...?id=1769#c2815

      * Added new DIOS MIOS v2.2 update2 NoDisc setting.
      * Fixed Devolution config version number and removed forced Wifi logging setting
Maybe some one can take the latest v2.2 and R1198 for a spin...

What exactly is this "Devolution" that's always mentioned in the USB Loader GX and DIOS MIOS discussions?

Might have to do with multi-disc support aka .iso's... But I might be wrong...

Devolution is the Wii IOS-based (not MIOS) GCN USB loader. It supports audio streaming, and multi-disc games (IIRC). It's just an app so you can try it even with DM on your system.

Cool, so it doesn't overwrite anything I have installed then thanks for the info!

No, Devolution is pretty amazing at that. It will support Wii controllers at some point and already plays many games DM doesn't. They only issues I have with it, is that it pretty much requires true 1:1 image of disc (can't blame the author though - so many bad rips) and original discs for its AP (Security.) After you load the original discs, it reads the security and then stores it so you don't need it again. The issue many people have, is their lasers are toast and they are S.O.L with running it.

I do hope DM supports streaming audio sooner than later though as competition is always nice

Yeah, my laser seems to be crappng out but I'm getting it fixed soon. I'll definitely have to try out Devolution and see how well it works for me (you know, assuming my "disc read error" problem is solved by getting a new laser lol). Does Devolution have a official page like on google code or something? I'd like to look into it and compare it to DIOS MIOS

You can visit GBATEMP and search the forums for Devolution public release, the author visits there daily and makes frequent releases to try and correct issues that we have found for him. The one thing I really like about Devolution, is that it doesn't require all the IOS's the others require, that and him frequenting the forums makes for more interesting debugging. This and DM combined make for some fun NGC gaming.

Now back to the program at hand - Does anyone have any update on if DM 2.2 is playing retail fine from Disc Channel? I can't get it running at all and still have a few games that neither of the loaders seem to run (XMEN 2 and GUN!)
