Yea I don't think it would apply when loading USB, especially from DIOS MIOS. I mean, when exactly is 'starting a game'? Not on the splash screen. I wouldn't even know when to do it on the actual gamecube.

I believe it would be just before the intro screens appear, but from what I've read if you're playing on Wii the system automatically gives you the prompt if you set the Wii to 480p and, of course, have component cables.

I never new the Wii was capable of higher graphics than composite cables. I mean, I can get Wii games up to 1080p on Dolphin on my computer, so that means the graphics on the game itself are pretty much perfect. Does the Wii handle those components alright? Cause I wouldn't mind losing the eyesore that is Metal Gear Solid and Metroid Other M, which requires squinting.

Oh yeah, Monster component cables are one of the best things to get for Wii. Looks much better IMO.

Just read through this thread, and I seem to be an outlier in that my issue with DIOS MIOS is the retail gamecube game in the drive being booted instead of the backup from USB.

I believe I've installed it correctly: DIOS MIOS 2.2 downloaded on 7/18, installed via WAD Manager under 249, d2x from hacking my Wii by following mauifrog's guide just a week and a half ago (Neogamma's been working perfectly fine), modded/beta version of USB Loader GX posted in this thread (ran from HBC), using a FAT32 32kb-cluster 16GB SanDisk flash drive formatted with EASEUS, retail disc in the drive. However, obviously, since it's not working (and my relative newness to Wii hacking), I can't say with 100% certainty.

GX recognizes my Twin Snakes backup from USB and hands it to DM without asking about SD cards, I see the DIOS MIOS splash screen... and Luigi's Manson asks me if I want to display in progressive mode. :/

I don't understand why it would be an issue, but I'll try to dig out my old composite cable in case the switch to GC 480p 'mode' could be causing it. In the meantime, if someone has a more reasonable idea why I'm getting a vacuum-wielding Italian rather than a neck-snapping special agent, I'd appreciate hearing it.

2.2 is a dud, use 2.1. Also try ejecting your disc and turning on the "no disc" option instead. Having the 480p mode set with component cables wouldn't cause that error nor would your d2x version (though I would recommend using v8 Final if you don't already have it). You may also want to try re-ripping your Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes disc(s) (I suggest CleanRip 1.0.5 for that) or reinstalling DIOS MIOS 2.1 using with IOS236 (249 is recommended by the guide and it works but I used 236 and have no issues so it is a fine alternative). Just some suggestions, can't hurt to try them. And lastly, double check that you've formatted the game ISO correctly and set the proper path as instructed by the guide.

What about the ones that are anamorphic ? I know not the same as a "widescreen" resolution, but when your tv stretches these, they look good at the stretched resolution.

I too am having strange issues with the newer build 2.2 of DM. I can say even 2.1 is giving me issues and can't find any game that boots in DM booter with widescreen implemented or what combination (forced video , 480p w/ widescreen enabled etc) works.. Better go, ambien kicking in...

Anyone get widescreen hack to work and with what? Did your Wii slow down?

I'll have to take your word on that lol, I've never seen any anamorphic games lol. The only widescreen and resolution factors I know for certain Wii and GC are capable of is 4:3 and 16:9 ratios with 480i/p resolution.

Ejecting the disc and then turning on "no disc" didn't take: apploader size zero. The MD5 checksum for the backup I ripped via GX matches the expected sum on redump, so I think it's a clean rip. Ran it through DiscEx as the guide said, and set up the path as described.

      I wasn't even aware there was a d2x v8; I'll grab it. >.>

I'm having difficulty finding a 2.0 or 2.1 version of DM - only version on the project page now is 2.2. Could someone throw their 2.0 WAD up somewhere? I've discovered a thread on GBAtemp with two people having the same problem as me, which was fixed with a simple downgrade. I'm hoping it's just 2.2 being a dud.

2.2 is broken, it always gives the "apploader size is zero!" message. I'll see I can find a mirror link for 2.0 or 2.1.

I just saw that a new version of 2.2 was uploaded on the Google Code project within the past two hours, so I did an uninstall of my current DM 2.2 and installed the newer one under 236 - still no dice. Luigi's Mansion with 'no disc' off gets me Luigi's Mansion, 'no disc' on with no disc in the Wii gives me "apploader size is zero!"

Thanks for the help you've provided thus far, btw.

just wanted to say this is coming along great. I was getting kind of annoyed when it kept freezing on a black screen with every game, and it seemed i did everything right .......... and after 4 hours of hell i discovered something. MY HDD WAS FORMATTED TO 64KB CLUSTERS !!!!! anyway .... i never thought about it cause it never caused a problem till now. i did however find a program that can change cluster size and partition type and other things without formatting you HDD just incase anyone else has this problem.its called Acronis Disk Director advanced. don't get home version for it doesn't have the needed features.... i did have one question though, is retail disc support going to be implemented or will we always have to keep switching back an forth between ios installs?

also wondering ..... is it possible to have both dmand dml installed at same time, or is it one or the other

I believe it's suppose to work ,but it hasn't...atleast not for me.
This is the Project Page..Dios Mios

No,it is not possible to have both DML and DM, Cause they both install to the same slot.

I have been trying for the past few days to get this to work, but am having no success. I softmodded my wii a couple of years ago, but redid it a couple of days ago using the softmod any wii guide. I then followed this guide to install dios mios v2.0. Everything appeared to install perfectly. I then formatted my harddrive to FAT32 with 32kb cluster size (and verified it did this successfully) and put Animaniacs (from the same region) onto the drive like the guide says. When I go to CFG loader the game appears no problem. As soon as I try to run it, the screen goes black for a couple of seconds, then my wii restarts itself.

I have already done plenty of searching to try to find out what is wrong, but have not found a solution yet. Does anyone have any suggestions?

      hi guys,
DM works like a charm, but I have another problem. Some time ago, before DM I have burnt most of my NGC games as multi iso discs.
Any ideas how can I now retrieve back separate games to make them usable for DM, either using my PC or my Wii?

make the fat32 with 32KB cluster size the first partition, USB1, it does not work on USB2 or second partition or 64KB cluster size, if you have only one partition prefect, primary and active and use DIOSMIOS_2.1.wad. If using CFG loader, change the settings to DM. This work for me

P.S you could check or change the cluster size with Acronis Disk Director or with MiniTool Partition without formatting your hard drive you will not lose your files.

Thanks for that info about MiniTool Partition, it will be much less of a pain for people who don't want to lose or have to copy out all their data.

@bzibziak I've never burned GCN games into a multi-iso disk. Is it possible for you to simply copy the individual isos from the disc back unto your computer from its disk drive?

@haverchuck Animaniacs is compatible? Check to see if it requires a disk or not. Also, when I use CFG Loader, games that would have worked on another Loader seemingly don't work anymore. That must be a settings problem with me.

I believe it merges the games into 1 ISO

My issue is that the whole thing works up to the point where I actually try to load the game from the USB. When I receive the screen that says something along of the lines of "This game is on USB, do you want to copy or View SD card" I should be given the option to "Load from USB" And I'm not receiving that option.
I'm using dios mios 2.2, and installed using wad manager 1.7. Everything went fine. I'm also using USB loader GX, and installed a gamecube game using the same process that I would a Wii game. That worked fine too, installed onto a USB thumb drive formatted to FAT32 with a 32kb cluster, set to active and primary. I had no problems up to the point where I wanted to load the game and it didn't give me the option, it only gave me the option to "copy or view SD card" I DID go into the options and make the "Main Gamecube path" to "USB1" Why is that option not available? Has anyone else encountered this problem? Thank you in advance

      Make the path USB1:\Games
Also make sure you're using USB Loader GX r1193 mod02. And I recommend reinstalling DIOS MIOS 2.1 if you still have the wad for it. Use IOS236 for the install, that may help, 2.2 has a bug that keeps it from running correctly (unless that's been fixed)
