No, if your wii has a d3-2 or d4 drive you can play backup discs no matter what neogamma version u have. If your wiican play nackup discs it is recommend to use the latest neogamma

Sent from my iPod touch using WiiHacks

I did like a previous post suggested, and downloaded R9beta56, and put the files on my SD card. When I access Neogamma thru the channel menu, it comes up as Neogamma R8, IOS249 (Rev 21007). However, if I access Neogamma thru my Homebrew channel menu, and I hit 'load', it comes up as NeoGamma R9 b56, d2x56v7final (249).. My question is this... How can I get the channel menu to access this version of Neogamma. Thanks for any help.

Delete your existing channel first, then download THIS , extract it to the wad folder on your sd card, and install using MMM. Password for the file is www.wiihacks.com

does anyone know if an internal harddrive in an enclosure will work? i have an external seagate that my cousin did for me and it works perfectly. i followed both the fat32 and wbfs guidelines to see if i could get it to work with my internal drive but when i open either wiiflow or usb loader gx it tries to load for a few seconds and then brings me back to the wii menu. any help is appreciated!! thanks in advance!

Wait, you lost me there... everywhere, i read people saying to stricktly use DVD-Rs, and that DVD+Rs will never work. I searched around more and saw that still no one is giving the green light to use the DVD+Rs.
so will they work or not? so lost here! lol

Cjizzle link for R9 beta 56 forwader channel, its suppose to fix Neogamma R8, IOS249 issue for psw to show up as R9 beta 56, would that work the same when changing R9 beta 52 wii channel to show up as R9 beta 56?

      *UPDATE

      i got it to work.

There has been some debate about that. From what we can tell some can and some can't. I have never had any luck with them personally, but some others have.

Maybe I can shed some light on the DVD +R information.

stick with the DVD -R. If you have a crappy DVD burner (factory installed burner)
then stick with DVD -R. When burning DVD +R then set book type to DVD ROM.

DVD -R works best with the Wii. When using crappy DVD media, there tends to be read errors with that type of media. It's best to stick with DVD -R if you use the crappy media or have a factory installed, or a cheap DVD burner. The more read errors on the disc means that the DVD drive works harder, which can cause premature failure.

DVD +R will work with the Wii when the book type is set to DVD ROM. If you use a good quality DVD +R (Tayio Yuden or Verbatim with the Azo dye) then read errors will be to a minimum, as long as your DVD burner is up to the task. Using cheap DVD +R media is just multiplying the issue and making the DVD drive work harder.

My thinking is that if you use one of the two DVD media I have mentioned above, burn the disc correctly, then DVD -R or DVD +R should be fine. Stick with DVD -R if yo don't use one of the two blank media I mention above.

Thanks stomp! I have tried verbatim +r's but never tried them with a different burner, thats probably been my problem all along. Have had the same two for a few years now, upgraded everything else in my pc but those lol. Cheers for the help!

As long as you can select DVD ROM as a book type before burning the disc, then the brand of DVD burner shouldn't matter. Not all DVD burners support DVD ROM, but most of the newer burners should support it. I used to burn all my DIVX movies to a DVD +R data disc to view in my DVD player and couldn't figure out why my Wii would read them, then I remembered that I never set the book type to DVD ROM for viewing discs with my DVD player. As far as I'm concerned, DVD +R is better than DVD -R, for movies and data and in general use, but with the Wii a DVD -R is the better disc.

I do disc loading only. I'm running r9 v50 with the cios switcher to load games. On Modern Warfare 3 guide it says to use neogamma r9 b47... I just deleted my r9 b47 channel. I have Neogamma r9 b47 wad file, and I have something that was linked above...Neogamma_Forwarder_Channel _NEOF_249. I don't know what to do now. I've tried using MMM to install both the older version of Neogamma, and the forwarder channel. It failed. Maybe I needed to put the neogamma wad file in the wads folder ?

You need to extract the download from page 1 directly to the root of your SD card. Then install the Forwarder Channel using a wad managing app such as MMM.

Wouldn't switch to correct cios for many games..., Guitar hero 5, and more... is there a way I can use cios switcher? How about if I have a NeoGamma.cfg file in the neogamma folder on root of sd card ?

Maybe you don't have the correct cIOS? Post a syscheck.
