Update the Wii Shop Channel with this guide. The Shop Channel runs off IOS 56 not having it will result in a 002 error. In this guide I'll be giving instructions for Wii Mod v3.0. Download it from here Wii Mod v3.0

NOTE: Korean or Darkcorp 1.1 users only need to download the Shopping Channel wad for their region; you already have the required IOS. Download it from the offline installation spoiler

Check your region in the Wii settings and make sure that is correct. If you have it set wrong you could get that error.

i did not get any error while updating or installed. however when i get back on the wii shop chanel it still says that i need to do the system update. sorry that i am noob but is that what it suppose to be? thank you for any help.

manged to make it works!! iam good now

Same thing that nerione said above. Can you tell us how you got it to work? I'm admittedly pretty new to this, but have been trying hard to get a better grasp of everything.

I had a Wii on 4.3u, followed Mauifrog's softmod any wii guide (awesome thanks!) and found that the wii shop channel required a system update. I'm guessing I skipped that step in his tutorial, or thought I didn't need it since I'm coming from 4.3.

I found this tutorial, but it seems that I should already have the latest stuff I need from having been on 4.3. For example, when I started this tutorial I chose 236 for my ios and it when asked to select a version for the wii shop channel I chose v20, but it already says my current version was v20. When I chose my IOSs option and looked at 56, it showed that I'm already on version 5662 (however the ios wasn't green which the wiimod app says green=installed) Looking back at Mauifrogs tutorial, It seems I should have already installed ios56 too. I didn't get any errors during the softmod process, so I'm stumped as to why wii shop channel still asks me to update.

My only thought is maybe I run the IOS 56 install anyway, and select some of the patches (but I'm not sure which ones to enable). I saw earlier in the post someone mentioned to enable 3 of them, but I see 6 or 7 options starting with fake sign.

Update:!! There is a new version of the shop channel out v21. I used SNES_Master's instructions in a post titled Shop Channel Updated to v21 to update and now all works.

Hey guys.

Im having a bit of a problem. When i exit wiimod and try to go back to the menu it says checking ios's. Then it says checking ios 52 and just sits there not loading and my wiimote not responding. Help anybody?

Nevermind, Just shut off my wii and it worked! Thanks!

FYI- I do believe at one point the softmod guide had a version patched shop channel v20. This would prevent on online update from Nintendo and would require manual installation via ios236.

Hi i installed 236installer in order to install shop channel v21 with ios236 ( followed mauifrogs guide)
it didn't work for me and i had the -1035 error.
So i just uninstalled the v20 wad and installed right after the v21 wad and it worked. The problem of installing the 236installer is that the version maxed out (rev 65355).
Because of that i tried to resoftmod from the start and when i used the letter bomb it wrote -1035 couldn't complete installation on the start (when i tried to overwrite the 58-61 with the same files). Anyway my wii works fine, does it mean everything is ok?

Hello, my name is Octavius and would like a support.

I followed the Tutorial Online, but the message still appears that I must accept the terms of the contract to access the Shop Channel.

When installing the IOS56 his name is Blue, I put to install and select the last update, but he continues to IOS58 in the system, and even if I change just after restarting the program, he returns for IOS58.

Could someone help me?
Already tried the process several times.

Just softmodded my wii last Sept using the guide on this site. and (I think) I'm using "Shopping Channel-NUS-v20" right now. Do I really need to update to "v21?"

hi,

i just softmoded my wii and it successfully played games from my usb HDD.

I installed Wii shop channelv21 by doing install all wads but when i select the wii shop channel , i got :"system update required"

I didn't update the system because of the advice from the softmod advice.

The reason why i need to go to wii shop channel is because i want to install the wii web browser and install other free channel.

please help : what shoul I do?

Only if you plan on using the Shop Channel. I wanted to update Netflix channel but it required a newer version of the Shop Channel. The only option the Wii was giving me was a System Update which I was afraid would kill my Homebrew Channel. Following this guide allowed me to update the Shop Channel without installing a full System Update.

Decided since I got Configurable USB loader I'd try the update to see if it effected it.

NOPE!

Fellow users of backups will be happy to hear after the update went straight to homebrew. Worked fine. Jumped into configurable USB loader, popped up. Loaded 3 games and there doesn't seem to be any problems. Update with confidence.
