• Walmart selling Limited Edition Blue Wii for $99.96

    "No, you aren't "losing" that thing up top -- Walmart will indeed be bringing those limited edition blue Wiis to the US of A starting this Thursday, and better still, it'll be hawking 'em for just $99.96 apiece. If you'll recall, the powder blue variants of Nintendo's newest home console were previously reserved for other sections of the globe, but a new spot that just aired on CBS' broadcast of the Titans vs. Falcons has confirmed that it'll be on sale within a matter of days for those lucky enough to snag one. They'll be offered up starting at 10:00PM on November 24th (that's Thanksgiving day, you know) and should be completely sold out by 10:00:01PM on the same day. That tally will net you a console, a matching Wii Remote Plus and a Nunchuk."

      I hate how some stores are starting black friday on thursday (Thanksgiving.) I can get a can of blue spray paint for $2 and a wii on craigslist for $80.

      99.96 is a good price. I'm sure they won't be any left when I get to the store tho.

      Hi guys Ill try to buy this wii, my first wii...But will I be able to install the homebrew channel on it with letterbomb? I cant find any info about it...

      TBO, we don't know anyone who has one so that we can ask them. It should be fine, but no way to know anything or certain.

      Damn......Then maybe I should buy the mario kart bundle...is there a difference between the white and the black one? I guess I can use letterbomb on both...BTW can I use dvd's on it or just usb or HD as I read somewhere...

      Usb devices only on any console that was made after sometime around Sept of 09. The reason you probably heard the remarks of certainty pretaining to the "wii consoles of color" (gonna use that for something lol). Is that at one point the white consoles in retail were a mixture of ones that could play dvd backups, and ones that could not. At that time the only thing that was certain was the consoles, both red and black, could not read dvd-r disks.

      Now the whole thing, as far as retailers go, are not able to play disk backups. You may however be able to aquire an older one from a friend that can. But by now the drives are nearing their failing rate, if they have been in use all this time.

      In summary: get yourself a compatable USB device.

      Damn so the only option is a usb device...Is there a list where I can check them? I want to buy a case for an old 500gb sata disk, will I be able to use it?
      BTW I found another wii bundle, is the super mario bross wii bundle with a black wii, the same as the blue one...Will I be able to use letterbomb? Cant find info about that one either.

      HDD enclosures are hit and miss and you really won't know till you try it out. As far as modding the wii, I highly doubt that a new system menu will be on the blue wii or any other wii that you could go out and buy today so happy shopping.

      i just done one last night for a neighbor using the letterbomb method. the only problem is the dang thing doesn't support GC stuff. not really a big deal but last nand i backed up needed a GC controller. risk aside, it was overly simply with the batch install. you used to have to install ioses one at a time. i say go for it and get a 1 yr extended warranty incase ya brick and have no nand backed up. that way you can return it to the store and bot deal with nintendo. it's pretty safe but there's always the slight chance of a mishap.


      about the cheapo wii, i think they should have done this sooner and should keep those prices. i see people online and on craigslsit all the time trying to pawn off a used machine at new or better prices. most often because it has a stack of shovelware and some dollar store plastic. one thing i didn't care for is the color. it appears to be working fine after a softmod. i was shocked to find they left out the GC stuff. just as bad no games included. i guess you get what you pay for.

      I just got one of these to mod in store, and when I opened it up its surprising, all the GC stuff is there but the port board is gone, however there is the socket for it , so maybe if you get a broken wii you can grab the port board and you will have full gc ability I put a wode jukebox on it and worked fine
