• Updating USB Loader GX from v1.x to v2.2

USB Loader GX v2.2 supports the new features of the latest d2x cIOS as well as Rodries MOD of the Hermes cIOS v5.1.

This guide is meant only to instruct those who wish to update their current version of GX v1.x to GX v2.2, or those who have had issues since updating to GX v2.2. If you have never installed USB Loader GX before, or you want to know about GX paths, settings, etc. have a look at Red_Gh0st’s {Guide} Preparing and Installing USB Loader GX

GX v2.2 and its forwarder channel require IOS58 and HBC 1.0.7+ in order to properly run. If you have a lower version of the HBC and/or it is not running on IOS58, read Part 1, otherwise skip to Part 2.

Part 1 - Installation of Homebrew Channel v1.0.8 running on IOS58

Part 2 – Installation of USB Loader GX v2.2 and forwarder

Part 3 (Optional) – Installation of d2x and Rodries MOD

Sorry to say it but no one can save you from that...lol. j/k.

You mod is definitely non standard.... Have you checked to verify your drive is on the Compatibility List and that it is set to primary and active?
If those things check out, I would suggest following the Softmod ANY Wii guide in my sig to get your mod up to specs. After you do that we can go from there...

When ever I try and make it primary/active it wont let me select it under properties. Its greyed out. How do I get around this? Does it have to do with administrative settings?

Ah HAH! There be your issue. We are getting way off topic here as this all belongs in the fat32 guide, not a gx updating thread.....

Use EaseUS to delete ALL partitions on your drive, then create a single fat32 partition that is set to primary and active.

I could not for the life of me figure out how to delete the partition or set it to active using EASEUS.. so what I did was reformat it to NTFS, and then back to WBFS.

However.. good news! I got WiiFlow to recognize my USB HD and it is playing my backups again. This will work for now until I figure out what is going on with USB Loader..

Im starting to think that it has something to do with not having all of the files on my Sd card. The only ones I have on there for it are the DOL and the IOS Channel fowarder... Is that all I need or should I try downloading the entire GX package and putting it on my SD card?

Thanks again for all the help

Hi There, I havent touched my modded wii in some time and after trying to lauch my backup of the new kirby game over the weekend and seeing that it didnt want to load I came here and started to do my research on what is going on and it seemed to have lead me to here for updating my loader, use usbloader gx, and installing a new cios. My wii hasnt had anything done to it really since I did the mod of it a couple of years ago using messie's guide hero on this site. I know I updated my hbc channel cause its on the 1.0.8 ver, priiloader wont load hbc know but thats a different story, and the store channels when needed to get back into it. Everything still runs fine the way it is now except the new backup I just got.

Questions are I have hbc 1.0.8 buts its running on ios61. I dont know if I have this ios58 installed, so if I happen to reinstall over it, its ok? Then simply reinstall the hbc channel going on ios58? Then its just simply updating the usbloader then installing this d2x cios correct?

      Thanks in advance.

This course of action would probably work for you, but considering the amount of maintenance your mod needs I would suggest you follow the Softmod ANY Wii Guide. It will give you priiloader, install d2x, and make homebrew run from IOS58. After that install GX and set it's default IOS to 248.

tnx, updated the ios, hbc then the gx loader and the kirby game launches now. will be updating to this d2x for sure after reading that i can now play my backup of metroid trilogy w/out a hitch now im a little excited.

Hiiii, I need some help here..
      1. I followed the instructions until the very last one where it says: install the new GX forwarder channel using MMM or Wad manager 1.7

Can you tell me how to install the GX fowarder channel? (more specifically)

      If I have these files:
      * forwarder (.wad) (Needs IOS58)
      * forwarder .dol (To launch GX when the wii boots)

The guide Preparing and Installing USB Loader GX(2.3) http://www.wiihacks.com/software-bac...loader-gx.html
mentions that we need to use IOS58 for the fowarders/channels to work. But as you can see in my syscheck, I don't have and my HBC is running well on
      IOS 58 v.24.32.

Should I install ISO58 or not in order to have the fowarder?
      2. I upgraded my USB loader from 2.2 to 2.3. I deleted the old 2.2 channel and I use HBC to load the games. How come its way slower than it used to before(extremely slow& and not working for some games)?

To expand on Jax's recommendation, the cios are outdated in your wii. The newest d2xv7 will fix your csi issue. You can simply install the needed cios with the installer or run the Any Wii guide you were directed to. Running the guide is going to update your cios and your ios (if you follow correctly) as well as make sure you have done everything you can to protect yourself from bricks.
