    Ca CIOS Coding for wii

I would like to learn how to code cios for wii, and learn how to create my own applications for wii. Anyone knows where I can start to learn to do this without having to go to school to learn how to do it. Another question is how come know one has hacked the wii so that it could be able to play xbox or xbox360 and or playstation 2 or 3 games? I would like to help someone do this or join a team to do this, I think this would be really awesome to do something like this.

You would probably have to ask Waninkoko or Hermes when it comes to cIOS seeing as how they are the only two to have released cIOS (236 don't count IMO). Here's a good starting point for homebrew.

No,no,no, and no. The Wii isn't powerful enough to emulate any of the mentioned systems nor are there PC emulators for some of them. If you can't do it on a PC yet you can't do it on a Wii.

There are PS2 emulators that are available for the PC. If the PC can emulate PS2, then maybe the Wii? I know you said it might not
be powerful enough, but then you did say if they have it out for PC, then they might be able to do it for Wii. So the XBox (original XBox)
is more pwerful than the Wii hardware wise??? Wow that is a jip, considering that the Wii was released several years after the first XBox came out.
Also thanks for the homebrew link to start to learn coding. I really like this website, there are lots of really helpful people on here

If you already know how to code, I'd suggest looking at the link that Darkcide666 just gave you. I'd also suggest you look at the source code of Hermes' ciOS.

It's like the man who saw the mona lisa for the first time and said "I wanna be able to paint that!" It's not that easy.

I have helped people like Bob Kahn develop the TCP/IP format... I have written games in "C" that are still online today after... 18 years? had to stop and calculate - MUDs aren't that popular anymore. I was a registered apple software developer for the apple 2 AFTER I graduated from college - gives you an idea how old I am. Apple made a commercial about me... if any are old enough it was the one about "turning on the lights" - I coded a major energy conservation program to "turn on the lights" lol and the chill pumps, and the fans, and everything else. I digress (old ppl do that alot)

My inspiration was working in a byte shop as a kid. Back then everyone and their mother came out with a computer. There was no standardation like there is now. Oh hell I'm never going to get to the point. Just get a language you can practice in. To program that is lol BASIC is good - as I recall it stands for beginners allpurpose symbolic instruction code - yes that was from memory correct me if I'm wrong. Then learn pasqual - whoops that was the name of the french pastry chef that lived in my building - pascal - it is a useless language but it helps you THINK right to learn the others.

To really appreciate this you need to build a UNIX box. Linux, or however it's spelled, might do, FreeBSD if your serious. Then you use VI, or the text editor of your choice, to make shell scripts (bash is a good one), edit cron tabs (to run the shell scripts you wrote at the time you want) and gcc... that is your ultimate goal... gcc OMG although nowadays there's "C++" sorry back in my day there weren't the plusses. It was just plain ANSI C. Is it g++ now? Sorry been awhile.

Then become one of the first Internet Service Providers on the block because that's what you do! Banks and banks of modems. Then... nevermind I digress again

Why the hell do you want to develop cIOS anyway?
