    Wbfs ftp

Right now, I am working on an FTP program that can use WBFS partitions. My plan is to modify ftpii by using parts of USB Loader GX.

I will use this thread to post updates about the project's progress.

I am looking for people who want to help me with this project. No coding experience is required, although it would certainly come in handy.

I'm intrigued, but I am unfamiliar with ftpii. What sort of features are you planning to add to USB Loader GX? The ability to load games stored remotely? I'd love to help out, I am a computer science student with grounds in C++ but I don't have much experience working on projects, let alone coding for the Wii.

What sort of help are you looking for? I'd love to help out with the code, though I am a little hesitant about running untested code on my new Wii :-\

I do not plan to add features to USB Loader GX. I want to modify ftpii so it can read and write to WBFS partitions. This way, people can send an ISO to their wii and save it on their WBFS partition, so there is no need anymore to disconnect your harddrive from the wii and to connect it to your pc.

If you want to know a bit more about coding for the wii, read the Homebrew development page from wiibrew.org.

If you do not wish to run the untested code on your wii, just send the code to me and I will run it on mine. I have bootmii as boot2, so I can restore even from a full brick.

About your expierence: I probably have even less expierence then you do. I have never worked on a project, but there is a first time for everything.

Yeah, the problem I have is I couldn't get bootmii as boot2.

On the code side, I've started reading up on development for the Wii and I got a copy of the ftpii source so I can start looking into how that works.

In the next couple of weeks I will be moving but I should have alot of free time over the summer so I hope to get some more research done and maybe start working on code (optimistically)

Allright, right now, I am reading through a C++ tutorial to brush up my C++ skills. I must say it is a very good tutorial. But it will proabably be another week before I can actually start looking into the ftpii source code.

You say that no coding experience is required for help so what non-coding help are you seeking? I have lots of general technical experience and have worked with Wii soft modding but I don't have any really useful knowledge of a language (well, ok I am going with PHP/SQL but that's for web applications and databases). I have hosting resources if you plan on posting this project online somewhere other than there as well, let me know what you need!

Welcome to the team! There are several things I need:
    1. I need people who can help me with coding. If you cannot code, but do want to learn how to, read about Homebrew development (at least on how to set-up DevkitPro and the developper tips). Futhermore, you can learn about programming for the wii by reading the codemii tutorial. Futhermore, you might want to learn more about C++.
    2. I need people who can make graphics (e.g. a logo).
    3. I need people who can help testing (although in a later stage of the project).

I do like your hosting offer by the way. It is very kind of you to make such an offer.

Alright I will do some reading on the coding, I also have some basic art skills but maybe not what you are looking for. And yes my hosting offer still stands, I have tons of hosting resources that are going to waste because one of my contracts canceled.

Later, in few moths, I might have enough time to help. I'm not pro at programming but I know basics (really not even basics but a little bit) of C (and basic and html and c++ and php, but those are not needed now : D), and little more C++, and now i am doing the same ase you: brushing up my skills and reading a 1200-paged C++ "tutorial"

I'm not free for use in little time, but just to let you know that I would be glad to help later, keep up the project!

(I'm not very creative type so don't ask graphics from me : D But I can help with testing phase too.)
