Ordered a D2PRO9 v3 with wii-clip v4C on November 4th. Shipped on November 6th. Received on November 13th in NL. Pretty quick, considering there was a statutory holiday and a weekend thrown in there.
Now to crack that sucker open and get modding!![]()
Thanks Spyman. Considering there are worldwide members here, I should have clarified that the Canadian postal abbreviation for Newfoundland and Labrador is the same as the Netherlands.
I feel obligated to post a review of canadamods since my decision to go with them was mostly based on this thread.
I would highly recommend them to anyone new to the modding scene and looking to mod their wii in the simplest way possible.
I ordered the D2pro9 w/ wiiclip presoldered and I must say they do excellent work. I am not confident with my soldering skills as I rarely have a reason to solder and they did a great job for me. very clean solder points.
They offer free shipping and although I expected it to take a while to get to me since the package had to go through customs, it really wasn't that long of a wait. The total shipping time was 9 business days and I live on the west coast of the US. The majority of the waiting time according to tracking info was spent at Canadian customs (about 5 days). It took canadamods 24 hours to ship my package after placing the order.
Canadamods has absolutely excellent video tutorials on precisely how to open, install the wiiclip/d2pro, and close back up a nintendo wii. I couldn't believe how easy it was to do, and quite frankly, I'm blown away by anyone who has run into problems on this forum in the past.
It's very obvious where the clip needs to be seated (easy to feel) and only slight pressure seemed to lock it into place. It feels very secure. Make sure you're grounded when touching the board (better safe than sorry).
The hardest part of the installation was connecting the flat cord to the d2pro chip (for use in case the chip ever needs to be reprogrammed and upgrading firmware via DVD doesn't work for some reason). The video tutorial explains how to do it, it's just a little challenging since it is done after the clip is already installed and everything i was working with was so small.
I'm using quality verbatim DVDs and burning at 2x. All games work so far. The chip/drive is a little loud with the d2pro when it loads, but I can't complain too much about that since it works.
A+ to canadamods for quality service, tutorials, free shipping. This is the place to go if you are new to modding nintendo wii's. I had no problems with anything and my wii was purchased in July 2008 (d2c2).
hopefully my review is helpful to some people. good luck.
Canada Mods is amazing, i would reccomend this to anyone looking for a modchip. My only issue, is that I did not get a tri wing with mine. :[
I just got word from Spyman that he is on the rebound from the flu. He is presently going through a lot of emails trying to get back to everyone. He said that if you have questions about your order to send an email through canadamods site. If you sent one and included your order number, then he will get back to you as he goes through his inbox.
Woohoo..
OK fair is fair.. even though it did take 17 days to arrive, my Wasabi/Wii-Clip arrived today in great shape (and as a bonus, included the tri-wing screwdriver, which I did not expect).
Install was a breeze with the video CanadaMods posted, and so far it is playing every backup disk and original I have tried.
Thanks CanadaMods !Sorry I got so impatient.
does this mean spyman or candamods store is back online ? not sure if I can wait 17 days for my order.
Well, to be fair . . . my understanding is that the 17 days I experienced is rare (first Wii chip I've bought, so I don't know)...Originally Posted by jasiknom [Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register]
But, I used their website, and besides the time involved (which may have been customs, not them) they have been good and the chip works quite well.
