I think you misunderstand the thread. The serial #s given:

    LU5504
    LU5532
    LU55579
    LU5559
    LU5572

Mean that Wiis in this range are boot2-compatible. But we appreciate your input, nonetheless.

If you want to launch Eject DVD from the System Menu without installing anything, you can use bannerbomb. I made a couple packs for whoever ends up with this Wii. You can download the appropriate bannerbomb pack from this folder. Google bannerbomb for the difference between v1 and v2. I am too tired to type instructions right now.

You will still need an SD card for this.

Lol, I had to use that app for my old busted wii for a while, but it worked just fine.

Who hijacked it? The eject button doesn't work on the Wii, so we were discussing alternatives. "Eject DVD" was the obvious solution, but there are several ways to launch it.

Edit: I just made Eject DVD Channel - EDVD.wad with CustomizeMii. It is a full channel, so an SD card won't be necessary (assuming it works ). I have only made a few channels before, so I just used the static base wad. It will look pretty boring, but should get the job done. This is what it looks like:

Edit2: The original copy didn't work (it crashed on exit), so if you downloaded it before, delete it. I made a new one that should work fine (it does for me). The link has been updated.

Lol, yup. My essay on metaphysics can wait. I finally have my priorities in order!

Btw, I uploaded a working channel (the first one crashed on exit). The link in my previous post has been updated, but you can download Eject DVD Channel - EDVD.wad here too. I used the static base again, so it's still just as boring (unless your into that kind of thing ).

Id rather just refit a new button.

If you need one, I have a collection of them for fixing wiis like that.

I would refit a button, no problem BUT. I need to get a triwing screw driver and then buy a button, solder it on. in the long run it's just not worth the trouble since most people would just run off of USB anyway.

Also one of the traces have lifted off the PCB, although it is not needed for ejecting as the other two traces are the only ones needed.

Sorry for not getting back to everyone on here as I have not gotten any emails about replies for some reason?
