    Keaton:

Pardon the thread jacking, Joostin and I are well-acquainted and the following is meant in good fun (in case you'd otherwise wonder):

    Joostin:

You got "lost" watching "Lost"? Typical. Your first born son, yeah I remember that thread; you said you didn't want'em either --- nobody does.

Very nice you uploaded that for him, lol (regardless of the outcome, you're as helpful as ever and that's a good thing).

Ok, I want to atleast try this method out. If I did the mod to it would you guys still want 3.4U or go up to 4.1?

As I was going to go to 4.1, install homebrew, a USB loader and call it a day but I know either of you would rather have it virgin then screwed with if you know what I mean.

don't worry, havnt scared me off yet. I'm just reconsidering my options..

Ironically, I bought this on CL just to get the remote & nunchuck then sell the console off. haha I didnt think you two would freak!

If you know exactly what you're doing (ie, have done softmodding before), sure no problem. I'm not sure for what purpose (to have a serviceable 2nd Wii?) this serves you, but it's not like I can say "OH NO YOU DON'T!" If you have no clue at all and feel lost: I'd rather you not monkey with it, lol.

As for "my" Wii: I bought it for the kids Christmas, 2009. It's not boot2-capable and at times my significant other likes to play and she gets annoyed when the kids go "me, too!" This one would be for the bedroom, their Wii is in the living room (with that gorgeous 47" LCD HDTV; the BR has only a 32" LCD HDTV). We have two wiimotes and two nunchucks, so good to go (and can buy more if needed, lol).

Edit: oh forgot... if you're following a wiihacks guide, you'll become aware following it will take this unit to 4.1 and that's fine (don't update via internet --- 4.3 is a PITA!!!!!!!!)

After hearing that, I'd probably turn the Wii over to you (had you not cheated me out of it in the first place ). I already own two boot2 capable Wii's, so I hardly need another one.

I did this whole thing on impulse.

How do you guys even find Boot2 Wiis out in the wild? It's not like you can say, "hey download this file, load it onto an SD card...........ohhh no boot2 option, nevermind!"

Can the disk eject be directly on the Wii memory or does this have to load off of homebrew?

There is an incomplete list of boot2 capable serial numbers. If yours match up with the first 6 digits of a boot2 capable one, then yours is too.
You need homebrew to launch that app.

Lol... I just got my first wii boot2 from ebay a couple of days ago. I did the research and knew that the first manufactured wiis were boot2 capable. And I believe it had to be under serial number that starts with lu64xxxxxxx blah blah. So I found this one because the model number had to be RVL-001, which these are the first manufactured wiis. The serial started with LU55xxxxxx bla bla, so I bought it. I think I got lucky though because I think it also had to be system menu below 4.2 and mine ended up being 4.0U. And so I did the softmod and yay!!! boot2!! lol

I believe the eject is an app that loads off homebrew.

Wiis made to sometime into 2008 were boot2-capable. Even if you update it, it can and will remain boot2-capable (though HackMii may need to be ran again and reinstalled as boot2 after such an update). I ass-u-me you verified it's boot2-capable based on your previous post. The HackMii installer would most certainly tell you, aside from an incomplete serial # range.

Oh and in case you missed my edit, if you do attempt this follow the wiihacks softmod guide. It'd update you to 4.1 (do not accept an online update or a disc update). System Menu 4.3 is to be avoided at all costs. And yes, that eject program HAS to be ran from HBC, no way around it. Is it the button itself, or a part of the DVD mechanism under it? I've got a D3-2 drive gathering dust here. Wondering if I could utilize it to fix the issue (if not, there are other ways) should you part with it.

Not necessarily, depends on what part of the world you're in. See this guide for a (incomplete) list of boot2-capable Wiis.
