Thumbs up WTB - Softmodder Consultant

Hi all, thanks for your time.

Since I consider myself an amateur, mostly "recreational" softmodder, I'm only around maybe once a year to mess with my Wii console. I've made some softmods to my system, took the proper precaution years ago to make backups and install things properly, however each year when I feel like busting my Wii out for some fun, I like to get everything up to date and make sure everything is configured properly.

Unfortunately, I really don't have the time to read up on things, make sure I'm doing everything correctly, and fix some system problems (like WiiFlow not working ATM).

With that being said, I'm willing to pay someone for their time and expertise.

I would like to hire someone to review the modifications I've made, suggest updates, and handle some misc. system issues and requests.

I'm willing to pay you $30-$60 for your time (depending on how long it takes) via PayPal or Bitcoin, but you will need to make yourself available via some instant messaging platform, whether it be AIM/MSN/Y!/Skype/ICQ/etc (doesn't matter which). This is mandatory because of a past experience exchanging "PMs" and "e-mails" that was very unpleasant. So if you can't do this, or you're only available on an IM client for a few minutes a day, please don't PM me about this offer.

I'm also going to be selecting a person based on what I see on their account activity. I'm looking for someone who really knows their shit, so I'm going to review your posts and activity before deciding to hire you.

Since I'm not a complete newb it shouldn't be more than a few hours of discussion over the course of several days, depending on how we schedule it.

Thanks again for taking the time to read through this novel. Hope someone out there can give me a hand and make a lil' cash on the side at the same time.

MODS: If this isn't in the appropriate section, I apologize in advance.

Why pay someone when you could just follow the Softmod Any Wii guide. It takes about 25 mins from start to finish. If you are having problems with programs not working it would be the easiest and cheapest route!

Well because I don't want to brick my Wii, not that I can't restore it, but just would rather avoid the hassle. I've already modded it so I don't know if running through that guide will mess anything up or replace something important.

That guide will not mess up your Wii. That being said, we can help you customize your Wii if you wish. Start by posting a system check here in this thread. If you are unsure how, check out the link below in my sig.

EDIT: Honestly though, the ANY Wii guide will update everything for you. Thats the best place to start...

Thanks cjizzle, I took your advice and started reading.

    Read these to refresh memory...

    - http://www.wiihacks.com/other-faq-gu...tem-check.html

...and started to read the Softmod Any Wii Guide. I think one issue is I have WiiFlow on my USB and SD and a forwarder that isn't functioning properly. Should I just uninstall the forwarder and keep the on on my SD? I think I attempted to run it off my USB but never got it to work. It's been so long.

    Here's my System Check Report...

Please follow the soft mod any wii guide.
Your wii's soft mod is way outdated.
Start from Soft Mod With Homebrew Channel Installed.
Read the Guide A Few times , then Proceed.

Thanks jax. Appreciate the post approval and the advice.

I went ahead and ran through the guide performing everything suggested/recommended. Things went smoothly, no problems encountered. Great guide!

As I went step by step, I took some notes and wrote down some questions. If you guys could take a look and shed some light on them, I'd really appreciate it!

    Notes During Mod & Questions:

    1. I noticed that the "SD file structure" within the guide is outdated, not major but figured I'd point it out since some people might get confused or delete files they don't see listed.

    2. I went ahead and performed the IOS Update and Shopping Channel Update. However, Shopping Channel Update is skipped a bit further down the guide. I just repeated what I did with the other wads and IOS-UPDATE, and I would assume it went fine. Perhaps the guide can be updated to include this since people might skip it if they don't see the step laid out explicitly.

    3. I now have 2 WiiFlow channels. I'm wondering if this is due to an old forwarder I attempted to install or if it was from my old setup. I do see a forwarder wad in my backup of previous SD files. Should I just use WADManager to uninstall it? If yes, would it be clear which channel to remove/uninstall? Any advice on this?

    4. What's the best way to remove the channel forwarders that were setup (USBLoader, WiiMC, etc)? WADManager? I've since formatted the SD card (as per the guide), but have a backup of some wads. Do I need to keep those wads in order to remove the forwarders or no?

    5. I didn't encounter any errors while installing the wads, so I assume they were successful (although, they would move from one to the next too fast to see "OK!"). If there was an error, would it have stopped the process for user input?

    6. Can Priiloader be accessed by holding "reset" at any screen, or only while HBC is loaded?

    7. What's the best way to identify older Wiis? Mine is old and can install boot2v4, which I find to be critical. I'd like to buy another though, so is there a serial number format or anything like that I can use to ask sellers prior to purchasing?

    8. How can I configure the channel forwarders to run WiiMC, WiiFlow, etc from the USB instead of the SD card?

    ---------------------

I've also updated and run a System Check after going through the Softmod ANY Wii Guide. Here are the new/updated results:

Okay, I think I found my answer for #3 & #4... use AnyTitle Deleter, correct? Which is the best: AnyTitle Deleter, AnyTitle Deleter MOD or AnyTitle Deleter DB? Also, will it be pretty evident which channel is the old WiiFlow or is there some way to identify it?

I used AnyTitle Deleter MOD to get rid of the duplicate (old) WiiFlow channel. Hope it was the right thing to do

Anyone know why Homebrew Channel shows up in AnyTitle Deleter as "........" where it should have some ID or Value? And when I view it's details, it says Version "unknown."

Yes, it is fine! Do not delete the Homebrew Channel if thats what you asking for. You need it!

Thanks toby. No I wasn't planning to delete HBC was just curious why it was missing some value data like the other titles.

    If anyone can look at questions 5, 6, 7 & 8 in post #7 I'd appreciate it.
