    Exclamation Semi-Bricked Wii Part 2

So a few weeks ago I posted a thread on here stating that I bought a wii off of ebay and the disc drive didn't work. It was also semi-bricked. I installed all the IOS's i thought I would need in order to update my wii to 4.3 (simply because I was tired of it not working.) I installed the 4.3u system menu on it and it became fully bricked. I was able to borrow a friends wii disc drive and use my Donkey Kong Country returns disc to concide with savemiifrii. It appeared to have worked as I am now able to use the system menu again. However, I still cannot access the settings menu. I am not sure why it is still semi-bricked, but any help would be useful.

    Thanks,
    Larz007

Yes, I did attempt to use the guide but had no luck. Is there anything I can do now to save this wii?

If you follow the softmod any wii guide and don't skip the optional 4.1 system menu install, I think it will fix your problem.

I have modified several wiis and have used http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html for many of them. I do not, however, know how to go about starting to fix this wii. As stated it is semi-bricked and the settings menu goes to a black screen. I recently purchased a wii dvd drive and placed it in this wii. When starting Donkey Kong Country, the only game i have with me, it gets past the screen showing you the wii remote and then freezes. Sometimes, when trying to access the sd card menu at the bottom of the main menu, the wii freezes as well. I can't seem to find any semi-bricked wii articles and tutorials similar to mine.

Does the sd menu freeze when you remove the sd card from the wii?

Make a nand backup with bootmii, then have a look at the nand.bin with nandbincheck
    do-
    nandbincheck nand.bin -all -v

Mauifrog, when there are no hacks of any type on the sd card, the sd menu runs perfectly. Clearly, since this is menu 4.3 that I am dealing with, bannerbomb can do absolutely nothing for me.How would I even go about getting bootmii up and running? I fear this wii may be a lost cause.

Go back to the any wii guide and try to follow it. If you can get letterbomb to work you will be able to install bootmii and make a backup like Maui told you to do.

Letterbomb requires a mac address. I don't have a way to access it as I am on a school campus right now.

Well I guess you will be having a hard time with that then. Your other option is to use one of the game exploits. I know, you don't have any of them...well get one and get that working drive back in or find a way to get that mac addy
