    Friend bricked my Wii

    Hey guys,

So my friend bricked my Wii by trying to update Mario Kart or Mario Party 8. I came and saw JUST as it finished. It turns on, but the screen just stays black. Are there ways to reverse this?

I do not recall the firmware at the time, but it had the HBC channel, WAD manager, and I ran my games through Gecko. If this is not enough to go with, I'll understand. Any help or advice is appreciated =D

    Thanks

Do you have Priiloader installed? And I'm guessing that you don't have BootMii installed as boot2 since you say it boots directly to a black screen.

It's been awhile, but I think bootMii was on it. Everything was modded through software on an SD card, if that helps. So far things are looking pretty bleak.

Hold the power button fro 10 seconds to make sure that the wii completely shuts off (red light not yellow). Power it on while holding the reset button in. If you have priiloader installed, holding the reset button will cause it to boot to it's configuration menu rather then try and boot the system menu. If it doesn't boot into priiloader then it's probably not installed and your chances are getting "bleaker".

If it does come up, then I believe you have a good chance at recovering. There may be a guide around for that, i haven't had to do it, but you might as well try and launch homebrew channel (option in priilaoder)and report back your status.

Edit: If you can report how your wii was softmoded (specific guide) people here will be able to help you more.

Edit 2: Also, i recommend kicking your friend in the mouth, that's what I would do.

If BootMii was installed as boot2, then the menu would show up at boot (unless your NAND is completely hosed, which I highly doubt seeing as the brick was caused by a system menu update).
