    bricked wii = nerd tears

I've been looking through the forum for days trying to find the answer to my problem, but alas have been unsuccessful.

I modded my wii last winter using mauifrog's epic softmod guide. It has worked fine up until a few days ago. I let my brother borrow the wii for a few months and he just recently brought it back. I went to turn it on and got nothing. Black screen. He says he hasn't done anything or made any changes. I eventually inserted the SD card with the backup stuff on it. I held the reset button and turned it on and got what I believe was the Bootmii screen (grey background, four icons). I went to try to use the wii remote to navigate the screen but the remote wouldn't connect... so i reset the wii (whoops). Now when I try to hold the reset button and turn the wii on to get back to that menu, I'm having trouble getting back to that screen.

Does anyone have advice? Am I totally f-ed?

The bootmii screen isn't navigated using the wii remote. You use the buttons on the front of the wii.. Power reset and eject...

I take you have a boot2 wii? Does the drive flash quickly twice on start up.
Does the remote turn the wii on?

I don't know if my wii is boot2 (plz excuse my ignorance). The wii remote does turn on the wii and the wii does flash twice.

Look at step 4 of this guide http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...beginners.html You have boot 2 which is excellent. (Two flashes = boot2)

Put your nand backup and keys on the sd card root and the bootmii folder as well then power on the wii. Bootmii should start.

Thank you so much for your help. I put this on my SD card, inserted the card, pressed the power button, and nothing happened. My SD card looks like this:

    SD CARD >
    nand.bin
    boot.elf
    bootmini.elf
    private <folder>
    bootmii <folder>
    installer.log
    keys.bin

I'll try and upload an screenshot of this later.

    SD CARD >
    nand.bin
    bootmii <folder>
    keys.bin

You sd card should look like that.
Put the SD Card in power on the wii. Bootmii will/should load up...

You are da fricken man! Your advice worked perfectly! Thank you so much.

Ok, now that I'm in the menu I see the homebrew channel but I don't see my usb loader forwarder (usbloader-gx). Am I forgetting to do something? Is this related to the wii being bricked? I remember before having to insert the sd card with the usb loader stuff into the wii for it to work, but now when I do that the priiloader starts. Am I supposed to put it in after I start the wii? Maybe I have to reinstall?

Thanks again for all your help. This forum rocks. You rock.

If the nand backup was done just after you installed the HBC and bootmii then that is the restore point it has taken you back to. Follow the Mod Any Wii Guide and regain full function-ability.
