Installed Wiikey Fusion, didn't work. Now my Wii gives a black screen on startup.
It's quite a long story, hopefully you can read it all and help me out.
I bought a Wii and a Wasabi DX chip about two years ago. It worked fine until I 'accidentally' updated the Wii's firmware to the latest, and of course the Wasabi stopped working as stated on many places. It gave me the "unable to read disc" messages. So I decided to just order the Wiikey Fusion. I installed it the same manner I did the Wasabi DX. Wiikey Fusion did not even light up (blue led). I then proceeded to test all the ribbons which were attached correctly. I then proceeded to test the Wasabi chip again to confirm that it's the new chip. Surely enough, the Wasabi lit with the green led confirming that it's working.
I then tried the Wiikey again, this time I forgot my Wii on, and did put the ribbons on the fly to the chip. At that moment I realized that the blue led did light up. As soon as I powered off the system and powered it on again, the led wouldn't light up no more. From what I understood, you need to cold restart your Wii to get the SD slot to work after installing the chip. It didn't work I guess since the blue led stops working after the boot. After doing this for awhile, my Wii stopped working completely. No red or green light, nothing. I then did reset the power cord thingy, waited 2 minutes and the Wii was back on and working (except the fusion). Then after couple of reboots the Wii won't show the picture at all. The red light on the Wii turns green, DVD-drive starts humming, the screen flashes with couple of horizontal lines against a black background and that's it. Now I'm at this point where even without any chip AT ALL, Wii won't do anything but display a black screen on bootup. Was the chip defected from the start? Did the broken chip break my Wii console? Did I break my Wii console? I've heard of the BT and Wifi modules dying, but wouldn't it be a bit of a coincidence? I'm totally out of luck, what should I do? And no, obviously no warranty left.
