The remote is never connecting. I can boot into WAD manager (I put it on a fresh SD card, per the directions at the top sticky) or with my normal SD card with BootMii on it, I can boot into BootMii, then press power to prevent it from continuing the boot process, and navigate around in BootMii using the power/eject/reset buttons.

At no time does the wiimote connect; I was just making sure because it sounds like most people whose BT modules are broken seem to get a total black screen, but I'm guessing this is because my Wii is older and I was able to install BootMii as boot2, and most people don't have that. So I think it's booting into BootMii before addressing the BT module, and then once it tries to go past that, it craps out. Well, that's not true, actually, I can get into Homebrew form BootMii, too, and navigate around in that a little, but the Wiimote doesn't connect in that program either, and I'm not able to do much with the power/eject/reset buttons in there.

I'm thinking the BT must be fried, since it's not able to connect anywhere or power the wii on from the remote.

Does the module at that link look OK, or should I be paying more for it than that?

Don't pay more then 8 (I'm on phone so I can't see price) for the bt module... try that as its easy to replace if that is not it then use you gc controller to help unbrick from guide

Yeah, it was like $6, but I'd seen them elsewhere for like $20. Are the directions at ifixit - Installing Nintendo Wii Bluetooth Board - iFixit pretty good? I'd say I'm medium-high technical level with this stuff, like I've taken apart laptops and replaced iphone screens many times, and I've already got all the tools. Everything in those directions looks straightforward and easy to me, anything weird I need to know or link to a better guide?

Thanks a lot for helping me figure this out, between the AC adapter blowing out and now this it's been like 3 days of researching how to fix the damn wii. Glad it's hopefully going to be an easy fix!

It's funny too, I was just about to softmod one for a friend telling him "yeah, it's easy, I've never had a problem!" and now this...

Yeah ifixit guides are very good... That is where I learned to take apart the wii to repair them... Let me know how it goes and good luck.....

Hey, so I got the GC controller I ordered in the mail before I got the bluetooth module, which is still not here - anything I should try before taking it apart, since I've got the GC controller now?

I know it's likely to be the BT module, but is there any way to confirm that or whatever before I disassemble it?

Try Savemiifrii and see if you can get into the recovery menu.

Uh, nope. I got a generic GC controller, though, not a real one, and I didn't take it apart - it feels pretty much like I am pressing all 4 directions at once, don't think it has the little piece in there that prevents that. Also, a lot of stuff I'm reading indicates you need a chipped wii for this to work? I just have softmod. Am I supposed to have a disc in it or something?

Sorry, I looked at a bunch of threads but I can't tell anything beyond that I'm supposed to see my version # in the lower right if it works. Not seeing that.

//EDIT - OK, I took it apart, so never mind. I found this post elsewhere, where a guy has essentially the exact setup and symptoms I have, tried everything else, and then just ultimately swapped out the BT module and it worked. So hopefully it shows up tomorrow!

OK, it came, I put it back together, and it's fine. Well, it boots into the system menu and everything, anyhow. Controllers work, etc, so I'm guessing this means this thread is resolved. It WAS the bluetooth module, and replacing it fixed the problem.

Thanks to everyone who commented - I'm going to start another thread about updating/cleaning up my installation of hacks/homebrew/etc... Please weigh in if you feel like it! Thanks!
