    Question Wii Menu doesn't boot

I bought my Wii when it first came out, and right now, I'm on firmware 4.2, softmodded with BannerBomb, NTSC. Recently, the system menu has not been booting. I have BootMii installed as boot2, so when I turn on the Wii, I get the BootMii menu for five seconds, but when it tries to autoboot to the system menu, the screen just goes black, but the light on the power button stays green. When I click on the homebrew channel through BootMii, it still just blacks out. Whenever I get the blank screen, I have to hold the power button for some time to force it off.

I also have a NAND backup, but it's from a while back, and I want to preserve my data. I'll use this as a last resort. I also have priiloader installed, but that doesn't run when I hold reset.

When I remove my SD card, BootMii doesn't seem to run- it just goes straight to the black screen. When the SD card is in, it does run. I don't know what else to do from here- any advice?

I have no idea what could have caused this. Before this happened, my Wii would sometimes not boot in a way similar to what I described above, but it used to work after removing the power wire, SD card, USB devices, etc for a little while. I used to just play with these things until it worked again. Also, when it did boot, it would sometimes say "The System Files are Corrupted," but I didn't think much of it, because it seemed to work just fine other than these rare errors. So, besides using my NAND backup, what should I do?

Good news is that it sounds like you can save it with boot2 if need be, bad news is we don't know what you did to cause it to brick. What was the last thing you did before it died?

    Do this.

    4.2U cBoot2 fix
    1. Download this and unpack it to your SD card.
    2. Place SD card in your Wii and boot.
    3. MMM will start
    4. Scroll down to "Load another IOS" and press A.
    5. Choose IOS249, IOS236 or IOS36 and press A.
    6. Scroll up to "Wad Manager" and press A.
    7. Press 1 to install all wads and then press A.
    8. Let it finish and reboot when done.
    9. Verify that Priiloader is still functional by pressing the reset button while powering on your Wii. If not then reinstall it.

When I turn on the Wii, I just get a bit of white text flickering across the screen. None of the Wii remotes connect, and the flickering doesn't stop. I think the text reads,

    cBoot2 DOL Loader v16
    IOS Version 2 v16 0x00020010
    Failed to load IOS

After doing some more in-depth searching, I learned that I would have to go through a complicated process of formatting my NAND, and performing a NAND backup wouldn't work. I got scared and tried to NAND backup, but it actually did work. Sorry to give up so easily, but, it really was the simplest solution.
