I am trying to test this now from disc. DeadlyFoez is going to test with wode. So we should no if it is possible soon. So far I have not had luck, but I will try a few more times.

Thank you guys for all your effort to fix this Wii.Just wanted to update you guys that i just bought a replacement usa wii console and now i am only able to play wii fit.

However i opened my korean wii and saw that there was a D2D modchip installed in it which looks like this D2D v-2.0 Modchip for Nintendo Wii - GGizmo, the Gadget Store.

My question now is can i replace the USA wii dvd drive with Korean wii dvd drive? If yes, does it allow me to play backedup games and out of region games without installing homebrew?

You can swap drives, but the chip may need to be configured to NTSC-u

I replaced DVD drive after reconfiguring modchip to NTSC-u but the drive doesnt respond at all.
When I try to insert the game disc it doesn't pick it. It looks unresponsive.

Ensure the ribbon cable is fully attached. Dvd drives are universal, so if it works it should work.

Ya there was a ribbon cable connectivity problem, now the drive is accepting game discs. However i observed that only USA backedup games are playable and not out of region games, however it recognizes the out of region game.Once you start it it says disc not readable.

What system menu? 4.2+ does not do region free. Also the chip must be configured to region free.
