Bought wii used 2 days ago. No clue how old, but was not able to install bootmii as boot 2. I was using a USB loader, not sure what it was called, the one that the guide I was following told me to install.
Have tried unplugging and booting, no change. Have tried everything I could think of, and everything listed in the stickied black screen thread.
I could see if a friend has a GC controller, but I doubt I'd be willing to spend money on anything to make it work unless there is a 100% guarantee that it will work.

There is no guarantee you can do anything with a GC controller. If you could get into the recovery menu using it then there's a chance but if your System Menu or System Menu IOS is corrupt enough or missing, you may be stuck with a doorstop unless you want to pay to have your Wii flashed with a backup nand.
Well if anyone knows some free or cheap solutions cool. Might be able to put like $20 into this to get it working. If not then I'm jus returning it to the guy I got it from
Well from what i believe you cannot load homebrew via disc unless your on 3.2 or below.
And assuming if you were not at 4.1 when u softmodded and fully completed then you must be on 4.1.
...unless you have a gamecube controller then you may be able to do something. There are some on ebay real cheap. Heres is a generic wii gc controller if your in australia.

i was 4.2 before i modded.
i dont have a GC controller currently and if i cant fix it in the next 24 hours or so then im just returning it
the only exception to this would be if i knew for 100% sure i could fix it for under $40... without a 100% guarantee tho its not worth spending more money
lets do some trouble shooting:
can you turn on wii with wiimote?
Remove all devices from the wii.
Make sure there are no loose cables
Do you see a flicker when you turn on the wii or is it just black or no signal on tv?
And if you want GUARANTEED fix then you can send your wii to a programmer (there are a few on this forum) and your "nand.bin" file from when you softmodded your wii. Im not sure how much this would cost but it may be over 40$ or it might be under 40$ i haven't asked them yet.

Wii turns on fine from remote
no loose cables
no flicker, just black screen, but its not a no signal (my TV only says no signal when nothing is plugged in, so even if its off it thinks theres a signal)
Ok you got a full brick.
You can either try to use the gamecube controller trick which you can borrow from someone or buy one or get your wii re-programmed OR return it as *cough* faulty *cough*
what usb loader were you using?
well checking with a friend right now to see if he has a controller he can lend me
if not then ill get rid of this
well even if i cant fix it, at the very least can someone help me understand what i did wrong?
everything seemed fine when i did the actual mod, even made sure the games worked fine off the USB loader
then trying to download cover images causes a full brick?
i could be naive here but that doesnt compute in my head, and if it does make sense why is that option even in the loader program, and no warning in any guides?
