    I will try the power trick although I am not sure what the difference is. I already unplugged the power from the wii. I will also look around for a game cube controller and try that. Although I am not sure if that trick applies to my situation.

    What do you guys know about buying broken Wii's on ebay and swapping the drive or motherboard? Specifically what do I need to replace? What did I break, the motherboard or the dvd drive?

    Just tried the gamecube thing. Held down all directions on the rubber pad and had a friend hit the power button on the wii. Nothing. Tried with SD in and out. Tried while holding reset, and not. Tried while having a game in, and not. Did nothing. Anyone have any ideas for me?
