Who ever gets any inkling about the problem that the op has got here wins this beautiful prize

What guide did you use to downgrade? I bet you didn't install the needed patched system menu ios and now have a nice paper weight to look at.

I used indiana pwns and installed hbc correctly, after I downloaded a file called ModPack-NTSC-U, went to wad manager and started installing a couple of wad's. Soon after I remember installing a 4.1 update and then reset my console not knowing if everything was fully installed. After the reset I've been getting the black screen. Any ideas anyone? or am i working with a paper weight at this point ?

Not with that pack name it's not. Some other site's fail guide. And I believe (as already pointed out), user had stubbed IOS 60 (which only reinforces this wasn't mauifrog's guide) and now is dead in the water. The serial number provided, based on Krafter's guide here, shows this likely a BootMii/boot2-capable Wii. Did you install BootMii? Did you make a backup of your NAND? If the answer is no and no, time to get with a NAND reprogrammer.

it sounded like it because of the modpack name.. but I had my doubts about it being our guide. hence the reason I was being pushy about finding out what guide he followed.

    "USA-ModPack-NTSC-U.zip---------mirror "
    that is from maui's guide.

It's possible, but in the totality of circumstances... I find it unlikely. Of course this user is still online and has yet to reply or provide additional information so I simply think Narse's apt illustration still applies --- LOL!

After reading what you typed in earlier I think it wasnt done installing the system menu when you reset it..
and you never answered nightstahs questions:
Did you install BootMii? Did you make a backup of your NAND?
