The system iOS must be patched, the SM installs the update from the disc.

Emulating the update server is not possible

Makes sense. Such an easy fix for any other system menu... oh well

Unfortunately there's some fail here as well. The biggest screw up was failing to make a backup of the NAND after installing HBC.

I think not waiting for a reply and just updating to 4.3 is bigger fail than not taking a nand backup. If you are going to ask for advice, why then decide to not wait for a reply?

Makes no sense to me =/

Come one guys, I'm sure he feels bad already. There is no sense in rubbing it in.

Bad_Ad is thinking of this thread: Wii Fixing Guide

This person just had a run of bad luck with Dop-Mii. I made my comment to drive the point that making a backup of your NAND before doing any mods is something everyone needs to do.

I'd say that is a good thing, for chipzimmus' sake.

zone117x - If you still have your Wii and didn't chuck it out the window, you may want to take a look at this thread..

    Wii System Menu Downgrade Disc

You will need a drive capable of reading backup discs, patched system menu IOS and a modchip or Darkcorp/Cioscorp installed. If you softmodded your Wii with Mauifrog's guide, this will work.

I was luckily able to take the Wii back to Target and get it exchanged for a new one.
But thank you very much everyone for the help. For a modding forum, I was very surprised to see the level of 'professionalism' (if you will) that has been demonstrated at this forum. Since posting this thread, I have been reading through the forum for modding resources - and I was again surprised at how awesome the staff and contributors are. Thank you, and keep it up.
