Sounds like a bad AV encoder in your Wii. If you are using composite cable then try component and vise versa. Swapping cable types usually helps but does not fix the problem. I you find a set of cable that work then you will have to stick with those or have your Wii repaired.

i only have the normal red white and yellow leads, of which i have tried both on different tv's. How would you go about repairing the av encoder if it is faulty.

It is possible but to be honest it's probably not worth it unless you are going to sell it. Look at these cables here. It would be worth a try and see if they help (of course you have to have the inputs on your TV for them).

No, you wouldn't have sound if it was a bluetooth. If you want it fixed then you might talk to Streamlinehd or Bad_Ad84 and see if one of them can help you.

Yes it is difficult if you haven't done it before. I don't recommend learning it on a Wii that you care to save as you could brick it beyond repair very easily. Not to mention you need a hot air station to remove the old one and is needed in part of the refit process.

So is there anything else it could be other then the worst case scenario being the av chip?

there could also be a chance it is the ports from the Tv.. I had a tv with a bad video port. check something else like another system or a dvd player connected to the port.

Did I come off like a jerk?? Read more here
