    Semi Brick

Hi guys, I have a semi bricked wii, the system menu does not load i.e. the opera error.

I have browsed the forum quite a bit and slightly unsure as I have come across so much information.

I understand one way of unbricking is by using the Indiana or Yu Gi Oh method. I don't have any of these games, is there another way of unbricking? I have a wasabi DX on my system but no Soft Mod, priloader or anything else installed.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Of course, I have been unable to find the latest update for PAL as I think I have been upgraded to the 4.3. Could you direct me to the current one if possible?
And the second method on that page for 4.3 refers to using the two games I don't have which is why I was asking if it was possible to restore region free without using them?

If you are on 4.3, no cIOSs and don't have HBC installed then you don't have a choice but to use a game exploit. Do you have "Return of the Jodi - Lego: Star Wars Savegame Exploit"? If so, you can use that exploit to get HBC installed and continue with the unbrick guide from there.

btw.... this post looks much better than you last one.

Are you getting the opera error at boot? No system menu? If so get a gc controller and do the savemiifrii trick, then post what system menu is displayed.

I don't think I get the error at boot i.e. the wii channel thing and the mii characters come up fine. It's only when I click to go into the Wii Settings I get the Opera error so I'm totally unable to view any settings. I'm not sure if that counts as boot?

Unfortunately I don't have that game either but if that is the only way it can be done then I will have to rent the game and attempt the guide. So will this be soft modding the wii i.e. I will be open to home brew? The main reason I went with hard mod was because I was under the impression that soft modding would lead to bricking off the wii easier.

You should first verify that you are on 4.3. That can be determined easily by trying to play a backup game from the disk channel. If it works then you are on 4.1 or lower or you could try the guide using a bannerbomb and if you get a 004 error then you are on 4.3 and you will need a game. It's worth a try before you make a trip out to get a game.

I tried a gamecube backup disc and it does play, does that mean I'm on 4.1 or lower, so on 4.3 no backup discs will work?

I'm sorry. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I told you that. That would ony work if it was an out of region game. Try runnig bannerbomb from the guide.

I have just put Fifa 11 in and ran the update. The system menu has returned and the version is 4.2E, however still not able to play the out of region game so I guess I will follow the guide.
I have tried Mario Sports mix and the update comes up again but I have not accepted that update. I have the Wasabi DX set to block updates, any reason why this is not working?

Also could you direct me to where or how I could possibly remove the update from the game?

    Thanks
