Please recommend repair service for Errorcode 003 bricked Korean Wii. Many thanks!

Would any of you please kindly suggest trusted vendor who can fix bricked Korean version Wii with Errorcode 003? I am in Washington, DC area.

Here is the description of the Wii:

I have a Wii as a gift from a friend back in China. I think it is a Korean version of the Wii. I know it is modded (as I see Home Brew Channel), but don't know if it is soft-moded or hard-modded with chip. (With Homebrew Channel, it is a soft mod, is it?)

So, I setup the wireless LAN connection and did an update. And the Wii was bricked for sure, with the boot up screen stuck at "Error code 003..."

Then I started to search on the internet and read about this and realized that my Wii was modded. After a couple of days' reading, it seems to me that it might be fixable, but tools, software, and knowledge are needed, which are way beyond my ability as a newbie.

Your only chance is in this guide here. If you took an online update your chances of fixing it are very slim to impossible. It would be worth while for you to try the guide yourself as sending it to someone may be a waste of money....

Yes, I found the "...Fix 003" guide and read it several times already. The barrier for me to do it myself is:

a) the guide, although well written, is a bit cryptical to me due to the terminologies through out....

b) I don't have any of the tools mentions, GC controller, DVD burner, any of the files, any game iso mentioned...

Thus I am wondering if anyone would be able to help me with a service if he has all the prerequisites in his shop.

What was the system menu region before the brick?

edit: never mind, I can only assume it was Korean since the error 003 comes from updating a Korean Wii to out of region 4.2 or higher system menu.

If you want to send it to someone then I will take a look at it for you but I cannot guarantee I can fix it. This will be my first attempt at a 003 error so I wont charge you for anything but shipping which will be around $30 total. Send me a PM if you are interested.

You can only fix it with a modchip, a dvd drive that reads burned dvds, and cioscorp.

You can reprogram the nand only if you have the nand keys, typically from a bootmii nand.bin or key.bin

But, I am pretty confident that there will be a workable fix very soon for all 003 wiis.

I guess I'm confused why it requires both a modchip and cIOSCORP. :confused: Isn't the idea to replace the patched SM IOS with a non-patched version? If so, then why can it not be done with a modchip, a compatible drive and a patched game to load the IOS?

What ios would you load the patched game with? It can not fix fixed without having patched ios on the wii, which would only still be there if cioscorp was installed. The system ios is not patched, so no patched disc will load. But if there is an ios that is patched, that can be loaded by a non patched disc, you can used the non patched game to load the patched ios, then do a disc swap to load a patched disc. But this only works with a modchip, a dvd drive that reads burned media, and patched ios that can be loaded by officially signed games.

The only other fix is nand reprogramming, Korean wiis do not have a vulnerable boot1, so you must have the nand keys.

The fix on the horizon is loading Smash Stack from the RM, that has not happened, but I know for a fact that it is possible with wode, and from talking with giantpune, from a disc drive as well.

I would not try to fix it at this time, unless the OP was loading backups from the disc channel without using a loader or modchip.

Your the man mauifrog and you know far more about unbricking than I. I was counting on IOS36 being unpatched with the online update and most most cIOS removed. I was thinking that by patching a modified version Mk to use IOS250 (as it is most likely still there) and loading it via SaveMiiFrii and a modchip (swapping out drive if needed) I would be able to install the correct SM IOS. Maybe I am reading your guide wrong, IDK.

Can this error be simulated on a US Wii, region changed to Korean and then updated? I have tested all other types of bricks except this one and would like to get some experience with it.

There is someway to put the korean key into the epprom (I think) of a us wii, this would make it a Korean wii, and give 003 error. I have no idea of an app that will do that, but I have read that it is possible.

You can patch a game to load on ios250 because this fakesigns the partition. With mario kart, the game runs on ios36, the installer partition runs on ios33. When you use iospatcher on MK, it patches the last partion, the installer partition, so the data partition is not patched and is loaded by the system menu. Ios36 which is patched then loads the fakesigned patched installer partition installing the cios70 or even loading a recovery disc. You can replace the installer partition with a recovery disc such as MMM and mario kart will load it. But this only works if ios36 is still patched and it would only be patched if the version number was maxed, like with cioscorp. If ios36 is not patched, MK loads fine, but when the installer is launched it kicks out to the SM = error 003

Ah, so it is hardware related and not just software. Maybe I will get lucky one of these days and find a 003 Wii on eBay for a decent price. I don't think I want to program the eeprom in my Wii just to experiment. :p
