    Fully bricked 4.2 system

I previously soft-modded the wii to run USB loader GX and I do not have BootMii or preloader. Evrything was running fine for months. Then, one time last week I was loading a game (been done many times before) through USB loader and the screen froze. I went to the wii and held down the power button for 10 seconds to power it off, and when I powered back on I get the black screen (not even the health and warning page). After some research, I replaced both the blue-tooth and wifi modules, but still same state. Also, none of the remotes will sync - wii doesn't seem to respond.

So my question - will the savemii possibly help? And would I need to upgrade to 4.3 to do it. Currently my system was at 4.2 after some manual upgrades prior to the mod. I didn't make any other changes prior to this "bricking" Any help is greatly appreciated.

You are not the first to report GX crashing the system. Most of the time that is a fatal brick. I can't offer any advice on the situation. Good luck. Streamlinehd, bad_ad84, and others may be able to help.

In other words, you did NOT follow a wiihacks guide. Was the USB Loader GX a channel install, or HBC-launchable (boot.dol)? What specific version? How old is your Wii? If it's old enough, a NAND programmer can inject bootmii/boot2 in it and allow for recovery (again, depending how old --- your serial # would help).

    1. Do you have Bootmii installed as Boot2?
    2. Can you get into Priiloader?
    3. What version of USB Loader GX was you using?
    4. Was USB Loader GX installed as a channel or on the SD card in the apps folder?
    5. If if was in the apps folder was you using a forwarder?
    6. Where did you get the forwarder channel if so?

I know that is a lot of question but any info you can give us may help you and others.

I do not have boot mii installed.
No preloader - or I have no idea how to do it
USB loader GX version 1 - followed this guide - minus the (bootmii part :-( ) - [link removed]
Loader installed as a forwarder from SD card
The wii is over 2 years old serial number - LU637065168

    Thanks for the help

Thanks for confirming non-wiihacks guide (this is why we say use our guides). Picking and choosing what to install/not install is a fail, especially regarding anti-brick or brick recovery options.

Edit: not boot2-compatible re: that serial #.

Your wii is not boot2 compatible from the serial you gave.... and you did not back up your nand... the only thing that might work is savemiifrii

I know that now - just didn't know then - looking for options at this point.

    Thanks again
