Talking 4.3U, GC2-D4 drive, bannerbricked, no bootmi or priloader

So I have this, uh, "friend" who's a real dumbass and bricked his Wii. Here's the deal:

    - Black Wii from late 2010 (came with 4.3U)

    - Softmodded, emulators and wiiflow worked great.

    - Tried to use Loadstructor to add a channels for a couple usb games

    - DID NOT install bootmii or any preloader (I know, total retard)

    - One (or more) of the wads installed from Loadstructor likely bannerbricked it.
(Wii turns on, shows safety screen (press A), then plays a couple seconds of menu music before freezing on a black screen.)

    - He tried using a savemifrii (I understand this will NEVER work with 4.3, correct?)

    - He bought and installed Autobooting Wasabi DX (without knowing he had an incompatible D4 drive)

Which of the following is his best option?

    1. Buy an older DVD drive and use it with the stuff he already has (WasabiDX, Savemifrii, and autobooting WAD Manager) to remove the bad channels. (or borrow one just to do the unbricking?)

    2. Reflash his NAND with Infectus. I'm not sure this is possible because he doesn't have a backup of the keys from the bricked Wii (... I know, I know, he's a retard).

    3. Use Wiikey Fusion to load autobooting wad manager iso from a SD card. Is this possible? They claim it supports SD loading even with D4 drives, but will it work for unbricking?

    4. Something else?

    Thanks for your help!

EDIT 2/4/11: 100% UNBRICKED! I apparently did not have a Trucha-patched system IOS, so after acquiring an older drive (a GC2-D2C to be exact) I followed this guide which successfully added a trucha-patched IOS80 (for my 4.3U). After that, I was able to get UUDv4 to boot, which allowed me to remove the offending wads. Also, the Gamecube controller ("SaveMiiFrii") was not needed - the WasabiDX booted both the custom Mario Kart and the rescue disk immediately from the "Press A" health screen on its own.

    This is your only option.

Not possible. He needs a nand backup from his Wii. Every Wii is keyed uniquely and there is no way around that.

No, It needs to run from the disk channel

    4. Something else?
    Nothing else can be done.

You can't auto boot wad manager unless ios's were patched.

Even on boot? I didn't know that. I should of bought a Wiikey instead of a Wasabi DX.

Krafter, Bad_Ad84 - thanks for the help. Patched ios's are present (a working usb loader would be impossible without them, right?), so hopefully a new (old) dvd drive will do the trick! Will post again with results.

No, USB loader will work without the patched iOS a wad manager disk would need

I know Trucha and waninkoko's cIOS were installed. Is this what you mean when you say 'patched iOS' or is there something else?

Lol, that is a confusing jumble of words.
