Ok, plot thickens. Got everything resoldered and I hot glued the whole female plug on the board to make sure its tight. The solder was nice and tight. Plugged everything in. as soon as the power plug is plugged in, the led turns green. when you hit the power button a red LED flashes (green stays lit) once and thats it. If you keep your finger on the power button the green light stays on and the red will keep flickering until you let go of the power. same thing happens with the eject button. reset button dosnt do anything.

    Ideas?

    Ninja Edit,

I also tried taking out one component at a time until it was just bare board, no optical, no BT, etc.

no bt and no wifi will both end up with black screens.

You need to make sure they are both seated correctly for the wii to work.

    Ahh this is great...

So after I posted post #22 i did not touch the Wii. I awaited a response from you. so again, at the time of post #22 I got a green light as soon as power was plugged in and a red light flashed when i hit either the power button or the eject button.

So after you response I hooked everything back up. BT, WIFI, the works. Everything. Now I get a red light as soon as its plugged in. nothing on the screen. if I hit ANY button on the Wii, the red light flashes and there is a very faint clicking noise coming from the main board. It is coming from the corner where the power and AV plug goes in. its a very faint click. but when I put my ear up to the main board it is the loudest at that back corner.

So the first thing I tried to do was get it to reproduce the green light that I had a post #22. Remember, NOTHING was done after post 22. I started taking out one thing at a time, putting in different combos of things, everything but wifi and BT, the opposite, pretty much every scenario. Now the only thing I can get it to do is this red light that clicks if a button is pressed.

    How weird is that?

Sounds like a short on the board somewhere.

Yeah, but totally diff circumstances (mis-seated NAND me thinks, LOL). I suppose you're quite correct though in net effect... "there's a short"
