Sorry :O lol i never read that part. And i was wondering with a wiikey fusion if i ran ssbb through an sd card would i be able to do the smash stack as well. considering i have a non autobooting wii? Has this been tried, or does the exploit need the disc? suppose you used the sd card insert that comes with the wiikey for the ssbb and the sd insert on the wii for the exploit?

I have verified your issue and I can confirm that autobooting a disk does indeed work. The only problems as I see it are:
    1. You don't have a compatible drive to autoboot a recovery disk as I do if you did buy a modchip.
    2. I don't believe that SSBB will load via a modchip on disk or SD. (someone needs to verify since I don't have copy to test with)

*If SSBB will load via SD then you should be able to simply reinstall your SM since the Hackmii installer will exit to HBC. If you left HBC for any reason before reinstalling your SM (4.3) you would have to do it all over again because selecting HBC from the SM also leads the a corruption error.

*You might be able to use Indiana Pwns exploit in the same manner as above but keep in mind that both methods will require an original disk.

I am not telling you that using a game exploit will work as I don't have a copy of SSBB and my Indiana Jones disk is out on loan so please don't go buy anything based on what I am telling you. I do know for a fact that your Wii can be easily fixed by someone that has the equipment including the modchip and a DVD drive to temporarily swap out just long enough to recover.

Wii key fusion will not autoboot from SD, as you need to load the gamecube disk is presents to the Wii, which loads a menu with the games on SD - once you have selected a game the wii reboots and shows the game in the disk channel. This is no good for autobooting.

However, With buying a mod chip, getting a drive etc it would probably cost you less to send the Wii to streamline or krafter to reflash (or just to use a modchip to autoboot if that indeed works) than buying all the stuff for a one time use.

Im still with streamline tho, any Wii ive had like this wouldnt autoboot (however, I didnt know the history of the console and it could have been caused by something other than the dopmii bug and therefore different).

Ok so heres what im thinking lol

I already have ssbb and i could see wether it would autoboot or not but i dont believe it will because i most likely have the newer drive.

I can get a cheap ol wii to swap the drives but that would be an extra 50 bucks on top of the modchip.

Haha the only holding me back right now to send it to someone who has the equipment is my girlfreind doesnt trust the people from forums lol. But i am still considering it. How long would it take for shipping, fixing, and sending back? And whats the price for all of this?

And one last thing do i need the triwing to check my drive i havent looked into actually checking yet?

@Krafter... Just to verify, this brick was caused by a bad theme not Dop-IOS Mod correct?

I've had at least 3 consoles with the Dop-IOS bug and can verify that it will not allow you to autoboot a recovery disc at all. The symptoms of the bug are very similar to what's described in this thread.

Also, the OP doesn't need a modchip because dip patched IOS are already installed (cIOS from mauifrog's guide). The only things needed are a disc drive capable of reading backup discs and dvd-r media.

You can PM Krafter or myself regarding pricing and turn around time.

You just need to check the Wii's serial number here Wii Drive Chip Database. You will need tools such as a triwing screwdriver if you decide to swap drives yourself.

Ok well that is a good sign if i had a triwing right now i could go get a old wii but sadly i dont . Im glad i have an xbox to keep me company during these painful days haha

Oh yeah one question i have tho lol. I can get a wii with an older drive and i heard it is pretty easy to swap out drives would i be able to do this myself since i do not need the modchip? then i could run MMM250 and restore my SM right? And an older drive would work with a newer wii too right?

    • There is a 50% chance the chipset is GC2-D2C2 (v2) and the drive has the new metal clip.
    • And there is also a 25% chance the chipset is GC2-D2E.
    • Lastly, a 25% chance the chipset is GC2-D2C (v1).

You need both.... the chip and an old drive. The drive itself will not autoboot. That is what we have been trying to tell you. If you want it fixed and you are willing to spend money on it, you should have someone do it for you. I will be much cheaper.

The drive will autoboot without needing a chip if the disc is patched to autoboot and cioscorp/darkcorp/dip patched ios are installed.
