    This is a brick

Ok, so here's the issue. My Wii currently freezes at a black screen just after the Health and Safety screen, unless I use maintenance mode (holding + and - buttons). I had been hoping that maybe this issue would get fixed in an official patch, but I'm up to 4.3 now and still nothing works. If I use maintenance mode, most things work (games play, and I can change most settings), but even then, if the system restarts and returns to the menu, it freezes again. I would do a factory reset, but I don't want to lose my Smash Bros. save file (I'm sure this issue comes up a lot :-P ). I'm considering softmodding the system in hopes that it will fix this problem, and because I really would like to play Fatal Frame 4, which is, unfortunately, Japanese only. Can anyone give me any advice as to whether this is a good course of action, or if there are any other easier solutions to my problems? If not, my only real option is to send it back to Nintendo and have it fixed, but I don't really trust them with my save file either.

Um, this is a brick and @ 4.3, I don't see how that's gonna solve your problem.

Are you saying that because it has this problem I'm not going to be able to mod it at all?

Edit: If it helps to clarify, I've never done any modding of any sort on the system, this happened on its own a few patches ago (probably a year at least, but I rarely touched the system so I wasn't really hurrying to fix it).

Mail brick, use search as I'm on my phone. Either softmod and run the fix or copy saves to sd and format.

Ok, I have heard of this mail problem before but wanted to be reasonably sure that was the problem. So softmodding will be able to fix it? That's all I wanted to know! Is there anything else I should be aware of?
