Got it all done last night, I installed bootmii to ISO (couldn't do it boot2), priiloader and followed the thread you suggested (it's the one I followed last night). Everything works but I decided to get a wode anyways so I wont need to mess with anything like this again. Everything was quite outdated on this wii anyway, and I think the previous owner updated with a out of region update to screw the settings menu up.

Thank you all again for the help, in 24 hours I got quite a crashcourse into softmodding a wii and could probably do it now from scratch.

    good job!
but as you are experienced now, why waste your softmodding knowledge (and the money for the wode) ?
get a nice usb harddrive from here
    USB Drive Compatibility List
and use the benefits from your now perfectly modded wii.
use cfg usbloader for your game collection on your harddrive and play the media stored there with wiimc you got from the app_pack of the softmod guide.
maybe have a look at Fat32 Usbloading (link below)
    really easy

anyways good luck with your further wii modding
    cheers

Yeah I may do that when I get home, my drive is on the list.

Question: Could you go back to the softmod tutorial and start from step one all over, after it has been done or do you need to remove things first?

    to do what?
if you ran through mauifrog's guide you are perfectly setup.

but yes in principle, no need to uninstall anything if you want to add something later (but not if you ran it just yesterday)

    Right, just in principle.
I wasn't going to do anything I was curious if that would be possible.

    Did you read my post?

It would be safest to just start a guide as if it was a virgin Wii, since you don't know what is on it. Any old softmods will be overwritten, so everything will be up to date. You can find several guides in the Recommended Guides section, but I suggest this one.

Just a note, everything is working fine and configurable usb loader is working perfect with my old 400GB seagate HD in a vantec enclosure.
Doesn't look like I have any need for a wode as everything I have thrown at this wii is working.
