If you had Bootmii as boot2 reinstalling your system menu wouldn't delete it. That being said, you obviously don't know what you had. If you're looking for help you should just answer the questions asked as accurately as possible and be happy someone is helping you. There's a reason We asked you those questions and had you try the cboot method first.

That is normal, you can't boot discs from the recovery menu without a modchip autobooting them, but you can update from the RM with a retail disc without a modchip. When the sm version goes away, that means the wii read the disc. It read the disc, saw that it was not an autobooting nintendo recovery disc and that was it. If you had an autobooting modchip the game would have started. The 4.3 update from disc will update you to 4.3.

Given the chose, I would go to 4.2 via SMG2 or other 4.2 disc. Just 4.2 is easier to mod again.

4.1-4.3 are just Nintendo patching to try stop US 4.0 had real improvements - if givien a choice go with anything 4.0 - 4.2 as 4.3 is fairy new still and the kinks in hacking it are still questoniable just go back to 4.2 its much easier to hack safely.

Sure thing what ever works best for you, was just that coz some loaders have issues under 4.3 well they did not sure if they still do.
