    Freezing Wii/Can't Load Channels

Hi all, I have a 4.2E softmodded wii that has a problem I can't seem to find much information on. After having run homebrew succesfully for many months, my wii froze today on the loading screen of WiiFlow. With little option, I begrudgingly chose to turn it off after some minutes of waiting.
Now on loading, the system menu will load fine, and I can access the settings menu, but on trying to access any channel (excluding the disc channel) it freezes on that channel's loading screen (blank for HBC). After waiting 30 seconds or so (if a channel is NOT selected from the menu) it reverts to the old An error has occurred, please remove the disc/refer to the manual error message. Note, this does NOT happen while in the settings menu, only system menu/notice board.
Thinking I could just fall back to preloader to at least start HBC and see what is happening, I was alarmed to find that I can load nothing from preloader either.
My next suspicion was message board corruption, so after holding + and - to disable message board on startup, the same issues still occurred.
This leaves me thinking I have system menu corruption, although I can find nowhere else these similar descriptions described in terms of being a brick.
As I have BootMii as boot2 I am not too worried as that is my next port of call, however I have installed the exact same setup on various friends wiis WITHOUT bootmii as boot2, just preloader (as I had tried everything on my more secure wii first), I am worried that a similar issue could happen to them, but without bootmii to bail them out. So what could be done to fix this if I cannot access HBC?

Guide: Black Screen App FIX is mauifrog's black screen fix. maybe that helps if you bannerbomb wadmanager and install a fresh copy of ios36 and ios35(in the end of the guide mentioned for forwarder and hbc freezes).
as you have a nandbackup and bootmii as boot2 you are on the safeside. i would go for that i think. revert and rehack using the softmod any wii guide.
good luck for now, maybe someone else has suggestions too.

    <--suggestions helped? press Thanks

How is your disk drive working? How well is the wii working if you autoboot into the HBC and skip the system menu? Is the wii playing discs normally?

Yes the disc drive is working, games will load however I cannot autoboot into the HBC, just given a black screen.
After trying your black screen fixes that are linked above with no success it was necessary for me to restore my nand with bootmii as I needed my wii shortly after.
But I still would like opinions as to potential cause and fixes. I could use applications from bannerbomb, but not my forwarders, channels or HBC (even from autoboot bootmii or preloader).
Is it possible that uninstalling HBC and reinstalling system menu IOS and then HBC and cIOS could fix?

Also, something I didn't really expect, is that after restoring with bootmii to just having the homebrew channel installed, I proceeded to follow this guide http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...tem-menus.html which previously I followed to the letter. Now however, when it comes to installing cIOS (from WAD) I just get an error.
I then tried this guide http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...y-4-2-wii.html as suggested at the bottom of the first guide and attempted to restore the trucha bug (again using wad, no internet connection) to encounter the same error. How is it that it could work perfectly the first time, and the second time refuse to work, even though its the exact same console, software and SD card?

    Edit:

Interesting, after restoring with bootmii again it all loads fine.

What is the error you get?
    You have boot2 bootmii?
Try my any wii guide linked below, and install the ios update pack in chapter 2.
