Unhappy Have I bricked my wii?

My Wii: Black Version 4.2/ not hooked to internet

My equipment: usb pen drive/ sd card

    What I did:
    1. Installed the homebrew channel, following the steps on this site.
2.The system would not allow me to use boot2.
3.I made a backup as instructed. I made a channel for the usb loader and the media player.
4.Using the pen drive, we watched a movie on the wii. I then erased the movie.
5.Using the Wii Backup Manager, I installed a tetris game that I downloaded. I played this game at least an hour.

What the Wii did: The next morning, turned on the wii. Went to the usb loader, clicked...the screen went black!!

    Troubleshooting:
1.I tried to power off the wii, using both the remote and the machine. It would not turn off. I ended up having to unplug the system.
2.I then tried to get the machine to load again. Still a black screen but machine would power on. Still would not power off.
3.I unplugged it and tried to load the priiloader. I held the reset button and press power. You could hear the machine coming on but still a black screen.
    4. I unplugged it and remove the pen drive. Powered on, still black screen.
    5. I unplugged again and remove the sd care. Powered on, still black screen.

I have searched the site and saw something about a savemii. I think I also read that I have to use a game cube controller (which I do not own). What I can't find at the moment and I have searched for two days but will continue is what do I do if the system will not go to priiloader or anything else except a black screen? Also, what could have gone wrong with it just sitting there unused overnight? I was so proud of myself and now I am just confused. Did I totally brick my wii or can I fix it? Please help! Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I can power on without any problem both on the machine and on the remote. But it will not power off. I attempted to load the priiloader again by unplugging it (to turn it off) and holding reset while powering on. While the priiloader did not load, there was a faint elongated rectangle in the top left part of the screen. This only happen once, then disappeared. I still don't understand how I could brick something that was playing perfectly that night and nothing the next morning. Grrrrrr. I am still able to take it back to Walmart if it can not be fixed. If I do should I request a white wii instead of this black one. I have read several articles that the black ones even the ones not hacked can malfunction for no reason. Any help in fixing this one would be appreciated though. Thanks!

I don't know what could have happened. I sounds hardware related, but your wii is so new. Perhaps just bad luck. I my wii was under warranty, I would not think twice about trading it in.

I am curious about the usb loader bricking the wii. If you don't use the loader, what can you use? It is probably in the forum somewhere but at this point I am a little disappointed in myself and aggravated. If you could point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

The usbloader is the only way to load backups for most wiis. You could use a wode.

Any ideas? Have you noticed any comon setup other that usbloading, cios, loader, etc. Perhaps some bug, or just random bad luck.

My comment was based on recent activity in this forum.

Only way to work out if theres something more common between them would be to keep a log.
