Downgraded 4.2U to 4.1U and now black screen
Hello everyone, I'm not new here, been a member for quite a while. I am having a terrible and depressing time trying to unbrick my Wii. Basically the story is:
My Wii was on firmware 4.1U using the Waninkoko's Safe 4.1U Updater. Been like that for a very long time. Then one day I received my Netflix Instant Streaming Disc in the mail. Popped the disc in to activate my system to my Netflix account, only to see the disc isn't being read. I then Googled and it said the Netflix disc needs Wii firmware 4.2 to be read. So I search again for Waninkoko's 4.2 Updater, and updated successfully with that. Popped the Netflix disc back in, and it still isn't being read. Although the disc WAS read when launching it using NeoGamma. But I wanted to launch it from the disc channel instead, so I thought, let's try updating to 4.3U using another Waninkoko Updater. Updated to 4.3 successfully. Disc still not being read. Not even with NeoGamma this time. So I tried to downgrade back to 4.2U, and only to see that it's tricky downgrading from 4.3 to any lower firmware.
But on another forum, somneone helped me, and told me to just download the IOS70 v6687.wad + System menu 4.2.wad, which helped. I was currently at 4.2 again. Disc still wasn't being read by the Disc Channel, so I thought I would download the System menu 4.1.wad and install that alone to try some other methods of getting it to boot from the Disc Channel. BAD IDEA. I now get a black screen upon boot, but I still get a green LED and the disc drive spins. I tried the SaveMiiFrii method, with no luck. Was hoping I was doing it wrong so that I can buy a SaveMii Dongle, but I don't think I can access the Wii's Internal Rescue Menu at all using ANY method. I do NOT have BootMii or any kind of that rescue things. I HAD PriiLoader installed before the brick, and had the "Press Y to enter recovery menu", but for some reason I cannot boot into PriiLoader by holding select anymore since after the 4.1 system menu wad install. I CAN power my Wii on from my Wiimote so it isn't any kind of bluetooth module issue either.
I am just looking for advice here since this site seems to have very well trained modders and whatnot. Maybe they will know what to do. The number 1 thing I am worried about are my gamesaves. I had lots and lots of gamesaves and will just cry if I lose them all. So I was wondering, if my Wii is 100% unfixable, would it be possible to unsolder the memory chip where all my game saves are stored, and solder it into another new working Wii? I know it's a very stupid idea, but that's how desperate I am. Is there even a "memory chip" where they are stored? Where ARE the gamesaves stored I guess is the better question?
If anyone can help me with successful results, I will gladly pay them $20 via PayPal. No joke here. Thanks so much in advanced. :(
