Bricked PAL Wii 4.2E

Hey guys, new to the forum so hope my post is okay!

I have recently acquired a Wii with system menu 4.2E. The Wii turns on with a flicker and a black screen, there is no sound so this is a brick. When I hold all four buttons on the D-Pad of a GC controller down, the screen shows 4.2(EUR) in the corner. I have a Wasabi DX chip installed, I have tried auto boot discs and they havent worked. The disc has spun then just stopped. I guess the truchea bug has been patched?

Is there anything else I can do?

You need a game with SM 4.3 for the SaveMiiFrii method to work. It only works if the game disk update is at least 1 rev higher then what is currently installed. As far as I know, Metroid: Other M is the only game out there. Go rent, borrow or buy that game and give it a shot.

Do you have any idea how the wii bricked?
Was it softmodded in the past?
Have you tried booting games? Have you patched the games to autoboot with "wii bootme"
Did the wii come with a wiimote, does it power the wii on?
Have you tested for boot2 bootmii and priilloader?

There are a lot of possibilities.

I will get a copy and give it a go, does it have to be an original? I have tried discs in at the point where System Menu version is on the screen and the drive spins once and stops?

I bought this on eBay as a repair job and by the looks of things I've bitten off more than I can chew and am way in over my head, I have tinkered with Wii homebrew before though. I have also installed a Wasabi DX and set it to PAL.

The Wii did not come with a remote, and I have had no success sync'ing the one I purchased. How do I test for bootmii and priiloader?

Well, you can test for bootmii by looking at the disc drive light. When you power on the wii, it will flash once or twice. If it flashes once, you do not have bootmii installed (not as boot2). If it flashes twice, you do have bootmii installed (as boot2).
You can test for priiloader by holding reset when you power on the wii, but it is unlikely it will work, because priiloader depends on the system menu IOS, amongst others. You can give it a try though.

So recovery menu comes up, you can't sync a wiimote, and you have a black screen.

Well, you most likely have a bad or loose Bluetooth Module. Make sure it is tight in place or even remove it completely and put it back if you have to. If that doesn't get it working you may have to purchase a new BT module and you can get one on eBay for around $15 or so.

Forgive me if this sounds foolish, but when I plug the power in the back and turn the device on I just get a solid green light? Am I looking in the correct place

You are looking in the wrong place. That is not the disc drive light. The disc drive is the thing you put the games in. Around it, is a transparent ring of plastic. It will light up blue.

No light comes on, no blue glow, what does this mean ?
