I did the hash testing lastnight as I said and reproduced your MD5 hash tests. I hate to say it but the tests are inaccurate. The MD5 value only changed because you inserted a different main.dol not because it was trucha signed. Also, you were only extracting the partition.bin and not the entire partition (it should extract an img file). You're right about the extraction of the partition.bin and reloading it doesn't trucha sign the partition. However, extracting the entire partition does (the main directory containing the partition.bin). In fact the partition.bin doesn't change a single bit whether the partition is trucha signed or not.

To accurately test for trucha just use a hex editor to view the game iso and if it's trucha signed you will see the tmd has been rehashed and a null byte next to the partition title. I will list the offsets for these when I get home tonight.

There is no need for it to sign the partition when you import it, the partition has not been modified. It only needs to be signed when the partition is altered. I am using 1.4, same one found in my guide. When the partition is modified, it fakesigns it. It signs it when I replace boot.dol, it signs it when I replace a wad, with anything extra. When I import an officialy signed partition, it does not fakesign it, unless I modify it after the fact.

Also, when you run iospatcher, it signs it again.
It only signs the partition when you extract and import the entire partition. It doesn't sign it when extracting just the partition.bin.

I have not tested if IOS patcher signs it or not. I don't think it does from my testing on disc.

Bad news - my autoboot patched MarioKart doesn't boot into the game. Nor does the real game.

Any suggestions on where to go from here?

You dumped it with usbloader gx? Have you been able to boot any games dumped with this method?

Since I usually play the dumped games from a HD, I never bother creating DVDs.

I'll try burning the Raving Rabbids game from my HD and see what happens. Good thing I have two Wii's or the kids would be going crazy!

    Stay tuned.

Good news(I hope) - a burned copy of Raving Rabbids 2 works.

So I guess that means the DVD drive is OK, I'm burning things correctly, and recovery mode is working.

    Any suggestions on next steps?

The problem is that the first thing you did was upgrade from 4.1 to 4.2. The reason this is a problem is that the upgrade removed your patched IOS and all your cIOS were filled with stubs. The only chance was if IOS36 was still patched however it sounds like you had an older version so the update replaced it with a newer unpatched version.

I do however have some good news. Reading over everything again it sounds like you may have a first generation Wii. You mentioned that you didn't think Bootmii or Priiloader existed back when you modded so that tells me we're at least dealing with an older console. The reason this is good news is that there is a vulnerability in boot1 of the first generation consoles and Bootmii can be flashed into boot2. This means with bootmii flashed into boot2 your system can be restored completely. There are a few people here who can do this for you. You may want to contact eirkie or bad_Ad84 however they are not located in the US. Also, please post the serial number of your console here so we can check the likelihood of it having the boot1 vulnerability. I'm new to this type of programming and didn't want to start offering the service yet to members however I would be willing to do it if you don't want to send it overseas. You can PM me for the details.

He needs to fill his nand with the ssdm method if he wants to fix it himself. I believe you can fill it very quickly via DL content from music games. Also, the wii fit time change would also work. Do you have any friends with wiifit? The details are linked in my first post.

As for ios36 being patched or not, do you know what guide you used to softmod the wii? When was it moded? Before the 4.2 update or after?

I did the Twilight Hack years ago. And I did all this on the original firmware that was on it.

Guess I'll have to go find someone with a Wii Fit...

I got my hands on a Wii Fit and board.

When I boot into recovery mode with the Wii Fit disc, I get the 4.2(U) in the lower right corner, then I get a black screen.

Is it game over for me?

Is the wiifit patched to autoboot?
