WiiConnect24 bricked me...I'm CERTAIN of it.

Everything was fine that day...I decided to use WiiConnect24 since I thought priiloader would protect me from updates, the reason being is I kind of liked the Nintendo channel, I hate News and Weather channels though...so I turned standby off, anyway, the second day after enabling WC24, my Wii would just display a black screen when turned on, fortunately I had a Nand backup and used it, you know why I'm certain it was WC24 that bricked me? ever since I disabled it, nothing bad's ever happened again, and listen to this...I'm sure you all read at least the beggining of the contract you need to accept in order to enable WC24, there's a piece that goes sort of like this:

"By accepting this contract you agree to our terms, and you agree to us disabling any unlicenced software on your console without your permission" (oh Nintendo, BRICKING it you mean?) idk it said something along those lines...I know my wii's okay now, but this has got me uneasy even now, I NEED to know if my theory is true, and if this has happened before to anyone...

Under the "for what it's worth" category: WiConnect24 isn't recommended to be left in standby. Aside from any unwanted (for most) automatic updates, it can increase internal heat/temperatures, leading to premature Wii death. What is it with you, that's twice you've bricked without even tryin' [not counting the errant cousin, I mean]

Never heard of it causing a brick, just heard of folks claiming aliens came into their homes and updated their consoles.

lol, I have followed advice strictly from this site and have yet to brick a wii. I have even tried (albeit not to hard) but none-the-less, via disc updates, themes, online updates, removing ios'. Obviously, I have followed some very good advice from this site, and when followed correctly, your wii is safe.

Nope..it's only one time I've bricked it myself, I posted about this brick a month or two ago...except nobody but 1 person (forgot who, maybe it was you) responded to me, and I had the "disable online updates" thing enabled...so I'm confused as can be, oh and now I'm hearing Nintendo is making WiiConnect24 a requirement in order to play some games...like hell am I enabling that again, no matter what the game may be..also at one point I used to leave it on all the time, until I noticed the overheating, but when this brick happened I disabled the standby mode, like I mentioned earlier...why do bricks come without me even asking?!

To address that, they aren't actively monitoring your console when connected through WC24. That type of activity is correlated towards Microsoft and the Xbox 360 community. For them to remove homebrew or any other "unauthorized software" requires a firmware update of some kind or for them to manually switch out your unit on a repair ticket. Bricking your console while connected to the internet is among the most least likely of scenarios imo.

Sounds more like nightstah suggested and the console overheated. Or maybe the cousin did something screwy to the power supply in his frantic mad dash to "fix" the console the other day. Or maybe aliens, who knows lol.

Indeed, we know what the cousin is capable of, perhaps he has done some other things in the past lol.

I think I even wondered aloud in the mod thread on the cousin if perhaps it wasn't GW at fault for the earlier brick, that maybe the cousin is a routine "frequent flocker" to GW's hacienda; turn your back on 'em and it's Toast the Wii Time

omg XD...it seems my cousin's left a footprint on this site that will never vanish, but he wasn't even around for that first brick....but okay guys, I'm gonna do a little experiment here, i'm gonna enable WC24 again, if it causes a brick, then it will prove I was right...if not then I promise to leave the subject alone permanently.

P.S. there will be no overheating since the standby mode will be turned off...like last time.
