    IOS-bircked 4.3E Wii

    Hi,

I wrote about this issue in another thread earlier, but it would be more appropriate to take it here it seems.
I was previously running with 3.3E and BootMii with boot2 installed, but then updated to 4.3E which left me in despair. The boot2 is gone and I'm taken to the normal health and safety screen, and none of my channels work in that they cause the Wii to restart and for the disc channel the screen just goes black.

This would mean it's IOS bricked right? I had installed a couple of IOSes to properly play WiiWare games installed through WADs and some others, unfortunately I can't give a list of which since I can't access anything.

I don't know what to do here, I tried formatting the system memory but that did not help and from what I've found the installed IOSes are located in hidden blocks so they do not get formatted.

Am I completely screwed? To boot my warranty period is over as well.

Good news is, your Wii is always going to be repairable. Bad news is, it might involve sending it to someone like me to reflash bootmii into the nand directly.

First, why oh why did you update to 4.3

second, can you run any games from the disk channel? as currently the only way to run any tools to fix your Wii yourself would be through a game exploit.

It's kinds stupid, I was looking into information on how to update my channels safely and I kept getting threads that told people to just run a regular update as it would be safe. Too bad they were talking about 4.2 and I didn't know the version had switched to 4.3 which completely breaks everything.

I cannot run any games from the disc channel, as the screen just goes black. If I could, I would be trying the Indiana PWNS exploit.

It seems like I would have to get physical with this and access the Wii hard drive don't I? I was at least smart enough to make a NAND dump when I installed BootMii.

There is no Wii hard drive, it is a chip on the underside of the motherboard that would need removing and reflashing with your nand backup (or just flash bootmii into the beginning of it) this would fix your wii.

also to update channels, just run dopmii and select what you want to install. simple.

who ever told you to do a proper update didnt know what they were talking about and 4.1 is the best system menu, not 4.2/4.3

I see, thanks for your answer. To flash it I will need some special flashing hardware won't I? Do you know of any place that sells something like that relatively cheap or a site/thread with instructions for doing this?

    Thread - http://www.wiihacks.com/bricked-wii-...t-bootmii.html

Cheapest hardware you can buy is the infectus 2

But depending where you are in the world, its probably easier and cheaper to send it to me or erikie. I charge about the same price as the infectus 2 costs.

    I use a proper programmer - ELNEC - Products - Device Programmers - BeeProg+

I live in Sweden, so I suppose the distance to England and the Netherlands is quite good. Seems like there's soldering involved in Infectus 2, and that's end of the line for my abilities. How would I go about to send it to you?

Just to softmod a wii they charge more than i charge to reflash a nand and ship it back, so its unlikely to be cheaper.
