Screwed up... Exception (DSI) occured Bricked?...after HBC upgrade

Ok wii was working fine, unfortunately my gf updated to a new version of the Homebrew channel.
I tried searching for an hour on Sticky files but cant see a fix.
Basically when I turn on the Wii it has a screen with this

    Exception (DSI) occured!
    GPR00.............

    Stack Dump
    81048ef8.......

    Code Dump
    81048ef8

I removed the SD card and attached USB HD unplugged the wii, reset the wii, tried loading a original game from the CD drive. But I cant get passed this screen.
I also deleted the config file from the SD card.
As soon as it turned on it goes to this screen.
I can turn the wii on with the wireless controller, but again it stays on the Exception DSI occurred.
Can someone please help me out I just couldnt find a solution..

Do you have Priiloader or BootMii/boot2 installed? Are you sure it was a HBC update and not some... other update (disc or online)?

OK.... you are right I did something else also..
I changed the settings menu on the white screen, changed it to boot to HBC
    Fix......
    turned off wii
held down sync and reset then powered on
this got me to the settings section .. then changed settings back!
