    semi bricked jap wii (chipped)

Hi I m new to the forum, and dont speak French(or whatever the langauge is used on this forum) ..I need help desperately but dont know where to start..
I have a chipped jap version wii bought in 2007. I have never connected to the net to do any updates since I had I get lotsa games from overseas (from gd friends) before they even come out here.. Up until now I could play all regions..until recently I played an original Mario Cart purchased in OZ. Since than my settings menu can no longer be accesses (gave me Opera error) but I could play my Jap games. Few days ago my wii stopped responding to remote control actions other than home and + and -. So now I can no longer play anything..After inserting the Jap game it shows up on the screen but I can not access it.. My remotes are properly synced(I know how to do that) and I have an sd card slot..but dont know what was my last software version..I have read the forum for days but dont know where to start (French lingo problem..lol)so if possible in simple English.. I am just assuming from what I read sofar that my wii is Semi bricked???? help greatly appreciated..

If you don't have the Homebrew Channel installed, then the best things to do would be to update off a disc (If you can get your remotes synched & working again). Mario Kart was a 3.1 update so you could try a 3.3 update. The games that have these are:

    Animal Crossing Let's go City
    Wii Music

Or you could update to 4.1 like the above guide says. Games that have these are:

    New Super Mario Bros Wii
    Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing
Sin and Punishment 2 (Japan-Only Release)
    Red Steel 2
Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands

Make sure if you update off any game it's in your region. I really can't explain your remote problem, I'm not that well versed in hardware problems, but at least when you do find the advice you need regarding them, you have the fix right here in these first two posts (Me & Krafter).

Read my previous post (post #4). The method I wrote should work for you.

He has already told you, you need to update from a game which is from the region your Wii is from.

Jap Wii = Update from Jap game
USA Wii = Update from USA game
Euro Wii = Update from Euro Game

You told us your wii was from Japan so update from one of the games I listed, but make sure it's in the Japanese region (JAP). Try it & let us know how it goes.
