    Corrupt System Files

    Help! Wii Newbie here.

I have soft modded my Wii in 2009 by following the tutorial. Today, I decided to upgrade the Opera browser and used WiiSCU (since the Shopping Channel had to be upgraded) to install the update. During the install, I accepted some IOS installs too. Now, after a reboot, i get a garbled "The System File Corrupted" error message. If I press the Reset during Power On, the get to the preloaded screen where I see the I have pre-loader v0.29, System Menu 449 and IOS v60.

However, I cannot select any option on this screen as my remotes do not sync up. What options do I have? Do I need a GC controller? What guide to I follow to fix this issue?

    Thanks in advance.

Yeah, you'd probably need a gc controlelr to navigate priiloader & perhaps HBC, I'm not sure. Anyway Mauifrog has posted this guide: http://www.wiihacks.com/bricked-wii-...brick-fix.html
I'm not sure if it's suitable for your situation, but you did get this error after some system IOS installations, which is included as an example of bricking that the guide fixes, so I assume it should work for you (If I'm wrong please correct me).

What IOS did you accept? What system menu are you running? Do you have a NAND backup? Do you have Bootmii as boot/2 or IOS? This info would be helpful.

Yes you will need a GC remote if your wiimote isn't working.

He said he was on 4.1 (Menu v449, IOS60). Anyway I just like to say again this guide should help you (correct me if I'm wrong): http://www.wiihacks.com/bricked-wii-...brick-fix.html

    Sorry, I missed that.

No, that guide will not work unless he can access the main system menu screen. BannerBomb2 is for loading an app from the main menu which I believe he can not access. He most likely will have to load an app from Priiloader unless he has bootmii installed as boot2.

Thanks RedArrow and Streamlinehd. When I press the RESET button while powering on, I get the following screen:

    System Menu
    Home Brew Channel
    Installed File
    Load/Install File

    System Hacks
    Settings
    Update

I also get the message about "A update to v.30 is also available."

Given that I am able to get to this screen, what options do I have to fix this issue? Use a GC controller to access the HBC? After that what do I do? For MauiFrogs fix guide?

    Thanks.

Download Dop-Mii boot.dol here. You will have to have an internet connection setup with your Wii to continue. If your Wii was not connected to the internet when you bricked let me know so I can upload more files for you to download.

Put the boot.dol file in the top directory of your SD card.
Go to the priiloader screen by holding reset and click on the Load/Install File option with GC remote
select the boot.dol file and start Dop-Mii
    select load IOS249
    choose select IOS/mios
choose to install IOS60-64-v6174 from NUS and choose to apply all patches
once IOS60 is installed back out of the current menu by pressing B and choose select system menu.
Select to install system menu 4.1 and make sure you choose the right region and download from NUS
You should get an option to restore Priiloader. Make sure you choose to restore it.
Press the home button to back out to HBC.

That should take care of it. Let me know if you run into any problems and if you don't have bootmii installed, I would recommend doing so by rerunning the Hackmii installer. Then run bootmii and make a backup of your nand and keys. VERY IMPORTANT. This will save you from any other mistakes you make down the road. Also, save a copy of your nand.bin and keys.bin to your pc and on an SD card and store it in a safe spot.

Thank you streamlinehd. Will follow your instructions. Having a GC controller will allow me to create the NAND backup too.

I have preloader and not priiloader as per your instructions. Can I use preloaded instead to load the Dop-Mii. Also, I have wi-fi and ethernet connection to my Wii. However, am not sure if the Wii has network access in its current state. I might have to load all files on the SD card instead.

    Thanks again.
