LOL, Wish I'd spoken to you a few weeks ago, I was back in the UK for a few weeks holiday, could have brought the thing with me and posted it, oh well.

In regards to savemii, I have opened my GC controller and can get into recovery mode. I can get into the savegames section of SD and the Wii. Can I use it to install the Indiana pwns hack and run from recovery mode ? Or is there any other autoboot disc I could run in recovery mode to get homebrew back, if I can get bootmii running again I can then use the NAND formatter.

Well, the issue was nothing was running/loading from SD when you put the card in?

If you can get stuff loading from SD card using savemii/savemifrii then you will be fine...

you just need to get bootmii installed as boot2 and you are good to follow the formatter.

Yeah well as I said, if I access the channels section of data management it freezes, doesn't show up any channels and I cannot access the SD screen. I cannot access the SD card from the recently introduced SD Icon from the main screen either. But If I go into data management and go to the save games screen I have access to both the SD and anything that is saved within the Wii itself.
I have put the WiiKey back in now, I can get into recovery mode using the controller and it shows the system revision in the bottom right hand corner (4.2E).

Now I have never done this before so forgive me if I am incorrect, I assume what I need to do is this:

Download the pwns hack savegame file and save it into Wii memory.
Start the Wii up again into recovery mode with the SD card in and the Indiana Jones backup in the DVD drive and that will allow me to get bootmii back up and running again.

Is that more or less correct?

You need to copy the save game from the sd card onto the Wii itself.

If you can do that, you can just follow a guide based on indianapwns exploit to get bootmii installed. (just rename the hackmii installer to boot.elf and put on the root of the sd card)

Once that is done, you can use the formatter and will be up and running.

Also, pretty sure you need to use a non SDHC card (under 2gb)

Ok, I'm gonna give this a try when I get back from work in a bit and hopefully I'll be cooing on gas!
Thanks Bad you have been very VERY helpful fella. If all else fails, what I will do is look into the cost of sending to the UK and back and see if the cost is worth it. If it is I will send it to you to flash for me, and you can return it to my mailing address in the UK and they can send it back to me.

    Cheers

Dog gone IT!!!!!! - It won't allow me to copy the pwns hack save to the system memory, it says I must have played this game first before I can copy or move the data from the SD card.
Anyone know if there is any other option?

Ok so this is my next step. I want to purchase a second hand Wii, the Wii I have found after checking the serial number has a GC2-D2B chipset, which means the drive pins will be cut and the Wiikey I have wont work.

What I want to know is if I buy this Wii, open it and swap out the DVD drives, putting my D2A in that Wii, will it work. I have been told, and read that swapping DVD drives over is no problem unless you have a new D4 chipset.

Does everyone agree with this this, can I swap them and sort out the problem. The second hand Wii is only 35 pounds plus the postage and is cheaper than getting the factory to flash the NAND for me which will cost around the region of 60 or 70 pounds.

I charge 30 including return postage (to the UK) if you just send just the board.

But yes, you can swap dvd drives without any issues.

Thanks Bad, only thing is, being in China, means I will have to send a Wii two directions costing quite a lot. If I buy a second hand unit I will only have to pay the carriage one way so it will work out cheaper. As I said, wish I'd spoken to you a while ago when I was back in UK for a holiday, could have brought it with me and done it whilst back.
