It loads the mediafirepage, but when I click 'download this file' I get a page load error and the download won't start. Is there another mirror for this file I can try?

when i click download, it actually downloads fine.
I would try again later or try another browser and/or clear out your cache.
Theres definitely nothing wrong with the link.

It keeps saying I need to login....arghhh. I'll try again later, I'm curious to see if this can fix my Wii.Thanks!
edit: I finally got it. Copied the file from Mauifrog's folder to my own account and downloaded it from there. I don't know what the problem was, but I got the file anyways. Time to reanimate my Briick!

Ok, so I followed this guide to format my NAND and install a fresh system menu. I used the .elf file from the formatter v2.0 and the wad's from the formatter 1.0EU. I created my own setting.txt in the root of the SD with the settingeditor-app, choose PAL and used my own serial-no. Everything installed just fine, but after the reboot my Wii I still got a black screen.
The Wii seems to fail starting the SM. I think this formatter was my last resort, do you guys think it's a hardware failure? I could load up the Homebrew Channel before (using either Bootmii, Priiloader or MMM via CB2) but couldn't get my Wiimotes to sync with the console. I also tried restoring my NAND-backup with RestoreMii, but I still ended up with a black screen at startup. I'm thinking I might have a busted bluetooth module, which prevents the Wii from loading up the SM. What do you guys think?

Sounds like bluetooth or Wifi module.
If you can boot the recovery menu using savemii/savemiifrii then its not the wifi module (fault wifi causes recovery menu not to work) which would leave bluetooth module.

yeah, SaveMiiFrii gives seems to work, so I'm off to order a new BT-module. Or is it possible the old one came loose and needs to be reattached? (I understand it's connected by a magnet or something)

Its connected via friction at one end and a sticker at the other.
Its certainly possible it has just come loose.

I read through most of this and wanted to get a few questions answered. I do not have bootmii as boot2 but I don't have much of an option. I looked and seen that the ios were in a file to get to 4.1 without a game. questions are if I follow the guide from the first page and nand format will I be able to use the files to get to a 4.1 system menu without bootmii as boot2. My 1 and only game disk with a system menu was ruined by neices/nephews. Also after I finish the format I plan on using the softmod any wii guide and getting a fresh new softmod for my usb drive. Anything I am leaving out?

Yes... what do you mean by you don't have an option. This is a very dangerous guide to follow without Bootmii/Boot2.
