I got several nand backups and ive tried both formatters. when i make the setting.txt file what goes in the 'DVD:' box and the "MPCH:" box? should i encrypt it? I've been dealing with this brick for about two months now and I havent made much progress. I think i have a either a semi or banner brick. i cant get into wii settings or wii channels. when i get to the system menu i can selete the disc channel(i can load backup and original wii games but i havent had luck playing any gc games) but any thing else like a VC game it freezes right when i select it. wii/gc backups/nonbackups used to all work perfectly because i have a cyclowiz. it all started when i upgraded to 4.2u. it removed my homebrew channel and everything was still working fine but then i reinstalled homebrew and tried to install usbloadergx and it told me i need some "cios action" in my wii then it said goodbye and when my wii rebooted it was bricked. i tried downgrading to 3.2 so i could try and boot the nintendo offical wii backup disc but the disc wouldnt boot. then i tried updating to 3.3 with wiimusic but that didnt fix anything. then i tried your method and ive had no luck. what firmware should i be on when i try your method or does it matter? ive tried it on 3.3, 4.1, amd 4.2. Anyway i have a feeling that your method could fix my wii and if you could help me get it to stop saying "system files are corrupt..." i would be eternally greatful.

Leave the defaults in dvd (0) and MPCH (0x7FFE).
the only things you need to select are
region, video and game
and enter your serial number

I'm having an issue with the NAND Formatter v2 you made up. It says it couldn't install some the IOS 17 WAD and then stops. What's the problem?

answer is already in the thread.
its struggling to read your sd card, try formatting it again with opposite format (if its fat32, use fat16 etc)
also try a card under 2gb that isnt SDHC

Already have that, I don't use a SDHC as I know the problems with those cards.

try formatting the card and putting the wad folder on there first. failing that, try another card.
