Actually, easier to just restore your nand backup and try again.

reason you have opera screen is because the first time you tried it, you wiped your nand (and settings/region) but it didnt reinstall anything.

Restore nand, then follow the guide again, should work fine.

Restored the nand and ran it again but it said settings file could not be found, so i'm about to use the 2nd formatter but when i run the formatter it says press B to load from SD, there is no B button. When i run it from my Wii memory the opera message says FIX/US/ENG/Setup.. Sorry i sound so stupid in these questions.

did you run the setting application also in this thread and save your generated one to the sd card?

Just run the app, pick your region (which also matched the formatter and wads you are going to use) enter your serial etc then save to SD.

The 2nd formatter, you need to use a gamecube controller (hence the B button)

that means setting.txt is missing... I dont understand how you are all keep removing the setting file...?

I've done this a million times, infact i formatted my own wii in the guide and ended up with a usable system.

Also, did you take a backup, like it says to?

and which version of the formatter did you use?

Hi, I have recently started using homebrew / bootmii etc...

I was wondering if it would be possible to load someone elses saved nand via bootmii? That way, after installing only bootmii, you could load a pre-hacked wii's nand, complete with HBC, and all the other hacks for playing backups and whatever.

Obviously this wouldnt work out of the box, youd have to modify bootmii to read whatever system-specific information exists in the wii and patch/overwrite the saved nandfile before writing it. I dunno - MAC address, some kind of unique wii serial number, etc... I have no idea exactly what system-specific data there is in a wii.

If this was possible, you could have on the internet a range of different nand files - want to upgrade to 4.2E clean install? - load this nand file. want to downgrade to 3.4U with HBC and darkcorp installed? use this file...

    Impossible?

    cheers
